Shoulder Impingement and Pressing

This last fall I was diagnosed with External Rotators in left shoulder. Probably from poor (I.E. non existant) program selection pre T-Nation. Stalled progress, but no problem getting fixed.

I saw a cool tip that basically said to fix these types of imbalances one should limit pressing to 1/2 the volume of pulling. My question is this, does this extend to all triceps exercises, or just pressing? Is this a valid reason to add in isolation work for the triceps?

I had been making very good gains before with compound movements.

Thanks,
