12 people confirmed dead…and it has been confirmed that these shooters were in fact U.S. soldiers.
Given the “quality” of your typical Soldier, they would have been my first guess.
You might want to clarify that statement a little… The first thing I interpreted that as is that “typical” soldiers are mentally unstable, and the second thing I interpreted it as is that a “typical” soldier is good at shooting people who aren’t expecting it.
Either way isn’t going to exactly endear you to the military folk around here.
I’m military folk.
I recently deployed and worked with some great Soldiers. Unfortunately, far too many were total garbage. DUI’s, pissing hot for drugs, being married multiple times, blowing every dime they had the weekend they were paid, and just having an overall attitude of not giving a shit about anything. I won’t even get into some the behavior that occurred while deployed.

My son was just leaving base on Hood when he heard a shot. He thought it was just rifles on the range. He’s off base now and there is a lockdown. He’s been to South Korea and Iraq without incident and we were so glad to have him “safely” back home last Spring.
I feel very sorry for the victims and their families. This is tragic beyond belief.
Glad your son wasn’t caught up in that. I’m still waiting to hear from some of my friends.
Thanks.
Best wishes and prayers for your friends - It’s a big base but a small town.

One was a fucking MAJOR…wow. It’s been confirmed here…but I’m still trying to find out for sure.
While I was deployed, A Colonel (full bird If I remember correctly) killed himself from huffing compressed air (that stuff people use to clean computers).

I understand where he’s coming from…I don’t share his same disdain as I don’t have the same experiences as him…but I do understand.

I can see where you’re coming from, and I’ve known my fair share of people who decided to join the military who I didn’t think were exactly… the right stuff…
Just wanted to make sure this wasn’t a case of “that dumbass” who always shows up when a shooting or something tragic happens. Wasn’t necessarily trying to jump down your throat.

I am on my phone, so I don’t know whats going on but from what I can piece together it seems that the Major re-enlisted(not sure if that is the term officers use) and got pissed he got called to war.

Am I getting this correct so far?
I haven’t heard this yet…but it’s not far-fetched. But with that name, most will think his motives don’t stop there. Especially with accomplices involved.

I for one, immediately pictured a muslim Jihadist when I saw the major’s name.

He (the shooter) is a mental health specialist. Not sure what that is. It is correct that he was scheduled to redeploy out to the Middle East.
The mental health specialists we sent our guys to while deployed were all Air Force personnel. But from what I gathered they were just glorified counselors.
