Sex on T-mag

-Maybe Maureen’s article was meant to be funny?

-To let lonely T-Men know that Vixens get lonely too?

-Perhaps the way women write sexually “exploitive” material is just different from the way men (and T.C in particular) do?

-I “missed” the point too but I am willing to put it down to an article that just didn’t “connect” with me, maybe because I am male?

-Maybe some of our T-Vixens could relate and it was pertinent to them?

-Maybe, just maybe guys don’t know shit about women and this kind of direct insight into their innermost thoughts kind of freaks us out?

-Maybe we all just found out that women truly are just as perverted and consumed about sex as we are?

-A man can hope.

Anyway, as to the inclusion of this type of content, I have no comment. I find much of it humorous and to me, that is enough. I certainly respect Vaine68’s opinion (and that of others) but in the end the “Sex Sells” truism is, well, True…

“Remember, if you smoke after sex you’re doing it too fast”

~ Woody Allen

Considering all the homophobic and sexist remarks I’ve seen posted by men on this forum for the last 3 years I’ve been reading t-mag, I wonder what it is about an aggressive woman posting about sex and relationships that gets everyone’s panties in a wad.

Jared,
Thank you as the original post was about that.

Furthermore, Diesel, I don’t care about what can be monitored, censored, etc. Its all about the climate, which seems to be degenerating more and more each day. I don’t know if you are familiar with the broken window theory of crime, but this is similar. The reason this site and mag is head and shoulders about the competition is becuase they keep the shit real, about nutrition, and furthermore, about real nutrition, based on sound science and anecdotal report. Hence, why Don Alessi got drilled for his baseless assertions in most cases.

Porn is porn, and related materials for the purient interests is for them. When I come onto this site, I do not want to hear about whose banging who or how big some girls titties are. I could care less. What I do care about is how the information in here is going to shred me up and get my huge, and furthemore, why it will do this.

Vain

Maureen, allow me to help you understand your situation. You have standards- very well. Unforunately, the type of man you desire also has standards of his own. Simply put, you don’t come close to qualifying.

Hope this helps!

Joel

I thought it was a great article. It motivated me to crack a book now and then in the attempt to get more pussy.

Well, maybe not.

This isn’t Highlights magazine. It’s target audience it obviously mature adults. As a mature adult you can read or choose to skip things as soon as the content is obvious. I don’t know how many articles have had references to masturbation etc. in the past (more than a few) but as soon as it’s a woman talking blatantly about sex the shit hits the fan. It’s the ye olde maddonna-whore thing rearing it’s ugly head once again.

I agree with everyone that that “article” served absolutely no purpose.

I would have much rather seen a piece (and more pictures  from Cassandra in reader mail. That would be a contribution.

Maureen’s was a piece too… unfortunately, it was a piece of crap.

I for one like the crude jokes and bathroom humor. I think in the context of articles they keep things moving, and the Atomic Dog section is an interesting read, and has some kind of message. But the celibacy article was boring, and it kinda surprised me that the editors, who (rightly) criticize women that whine and have way too high an opinion of themselves, decided to include her rant.

Actually, blaming this thread on the Maureen article is a little off base. This article was just about sex, be it man, woman, gay, Bee Arthur, whatever, and it was pointless for the training community. Readers have bitched at other sexually-based articles as well (Sex Cult article comes to mind). Maybe this article brought this topic to the forefront with how much of a blatant attempt to pander it was, (I kept thinking I was reading M&F or Flex or something) but I assure you a woman asserting her sexuality is not the problem here for most.

I must say that this article was an anomaly for T-mag, as they typically put out excellent articles. I know it was an anonymous reader, but they still published it.

Thank you Jared again
My original post was not particularly aimed at the Maureen article, although that did stimulate the desire to post it. Again and again throughout the mags articles (particularly TC’s; but this is NOT directed at him either), there is often reference to some sexual inneundo. Now, I don’t mind occasional sex humour, which this site HAS done before in good taste. I, for one, however, would like to see a more “thought provoking” column than I typically read. Perhaps this is not the point of these columns, but, being as evolved as the board seems to be, I would think the editors might simply just step up the quailty of the columns (this is not to say that many columns haven’t been good ones, its just that more often than not, it all hinges around sexual themes or at least some sexual content).

No problem gettin’ flamed. I fully expected to.

Quoting Steelyeyes: “This isn’t Highlights magazine. It’s target audience it obviously mature adults. As a mature adult you can read or choose to skip things as soon as the content is obvious. Wow!! I think most people will agree, Steelyeyes, you’ve hit it right on the nail. One of the most intelligent opinions I’ve read lately. Well said!

“Maybe this article brought this topic to the forefront with how much of a blatant attempt to pander it was, (I kept thinking I was reading M&F or Flex or something) but I assure you a woman asserting her sexuality is not the problem here for most.” – Jared

Agreed. To SteelyEyes, ~karma~ discusses sex on this forum quite frequently. I am not offended. A few weeks back, bigprljamfan also devoted a thread to her desire for more kinky shit in the bedroom. I was not offended. Maureen’s “insights” were valueless. What bothered me too was the fact that she was blatantly egocentric and flaky. She’s got a major superiority complex. She’s the type of chick that men and women alike hate. And that is why she hasn’t been laid in two years.

Some of the sex related posts on this forum get downright hot, but I haven’t seen anything that I found offensive yet.

Some of TC’s articles make me laugh till my sides hurt and tears are rolling down my face, but I don’t find it offensive.

Maureen’s rant was blatantly self-centered, ego-centric crap. I wasn’t so much offended by the content (or lack thereof) as I was disappointed that I wasted 5 minutes of my life reading it. I figure the reason she can’t get laid by a guy with any smarts is cause they all RUN. No piece of ass is worth that kind of pyscho bullshit.

I agree with Vain and get his point completely I think.
I come to this site for training and diet, supplement info. The articles about being a real T-Man are great to read as well. I think being a t- man partly encompasses the cognitive ability to find humor in other places in life and not have the need to rely on the more common and overtired “sex humor” that is prevalent almost everywhere! Its like the modern sitcoms…can’t they think of some genuinely funny stuff besides tired sex jokes that we have all heard?? I mean come on…think up some new material folks! Be creative…relying on sex humor is NOT creative. We have all(most of us) had sex…we think about sex alot…and get gratification from it. Using it as a prop for humor or just filler material in an article just seems to be lame and uncreative. Its like laughing at farting or fart jokes as an adult. Come on…we grew (or should have) grown out of that in high school! Get a clue!!!

Note to TC-
Stick to writing from the male perspective, you don’t make a very good woman.

On the whole, what bothered most about that article was its caliber and quality- or lack thereof. Obviously not all t-mag articles are informative–AD-- but I do expect t-mag to offer articles with value, be it in information, inspirational crap, or simply in entertainment. Unfortunately, this article totally lacked a point, wasn’t entertaining or informative, and frankly could be seen as a blemish on the brand’s reputation for quality. Aside from lacking a point, it was also poorly written. I expect more from you, TC.

I agree with Vain…Sex talk is usually the last line of humor when creativity has left the building. Its like the modern sit coms…most of them rely on tried and true tired out sex jokes and innuendo because the writers aren’t creative enough to come up with cool humor and so they have the ol standby…SEX… My thing is…I come to this site for hardcore training and nutrtition/drug info. Not to have my brain titallated sexually. I can take care of that myself without the help of T-Mag…as can everyone else on this site I bet! Like the Old MM2K that was great without an abuse of sexual topics…this mag does not NEED to use it as a fall back topic.
It doesn’t enhance my knowledge of training and diet/supplement knowledge…and that is what I rely on this site for.
Appealing to the sexual nature is the easy way out to fill the mag with material.

As I posted on the new issue thread regarding this weeks article…

No JOKE!!! If I want to hear corny sex talk from some poor girl with severe mental problems who isn’t even good looking… agh… couldn’t I just call a hotline or cheap mag or just click off of tmag and onto any other site out there?

It’s just that this article stands apart from all the other material on this site. Let’s just hope it was a one time event.

As far as the sex material in general I agree that we can choose what we look at and how it affects us however the level and type of sexual up till now was nothing like this rescent article…

Just my thoughts.

I couldnt see the point of the celibacy article either. It was, well…pointless. We now know that the writer wants to get laid. I dont think that it told us anything insightful or amusing. It just struck me as a gap filler.

Im not knocking it for being to adult or shocking as it wasnt. Im knocking it more for being without direction. It seemed more like a platform for the the writer to impress us with how tawdry she can be and to be quite honset it wasnt that impressive or tawdry.

Wow! I had no idea this article would cause such controversy!

Here’s my “defense”: I thought Maureen’s article was interesting. I thought parts of it were funny. I liked hearing a sexually liberated woman’s views on sex.

It’s apparent that many of you didn’t like it. I rolled some dice and took a chance. It looks like I lost. Okay, but instead of wailing and gnashing my teeth, I’ll be back at the table next week rolling them again.

Some of you guys should be a little more chivalrous, though–attacking Maureen’s appearance isn’t worthy of a T-man, in my humble opinion.

“Some of you guys should be a little more chivalrous, though–attacking Maureen’s appearance isn’t worthy of a T-man, in my humble opinion.”

I hate to disagree with the editor, but she stated that she’s too good for a dude with a gut or an underdeveloped body. Fuck her. Her appearance is fair game.

TC and fellow T-maggers

Just to bring the post back full circle. My original post was NOT aimed particularly at Maureen. The article however did serve as the cataylst for the post. Often, particularly in the opening column, we here of references to sexual themes. Once in a while not a problem, but like Jared said, lets not pander. This mag and forum are too evolved to get sucked into that bullshit.

More articles like Merry Christmas bob, or talking about some kid who overcame the obstacles of the inner city or along similar lines are what I am looking for. I realize I am but one of many many T-maggers and some may want sexual allusions more often than not.
Speak to heart, speak inspirational, speak motivational. Let go of the rock was another good one. Not only does the sexual crap take away from this mag, but it takes away from moral living in general (note: I speak general. Some good fun is positive, I am not a prude)

I can’t type out the post the way I would say it, but I think the regulars get the point. We are a family here. Lets set the example of class.
