Setting Up For 1RM

any one have a good way to help me warm up for my max.my last max was 365.i think im way past that now, i did 335 for 5 then 355 for 4 the other day.so i think im close to 405-415ish .any comments on how i should go about it? keep in mind im coming off a pec injury, its been about 2 months, chest still burns a bit, so im waitting a few more weeks.

If you have built yourself up that much I don’t think you need advise. If you just wanted to post your stats that is all you had to do. Good job though!!

lol no i really do want advise.its always hard for me to decide how much to do and how much to go up, just because in bench a decent amount dosent mean i know everything.or dont need help.but thanks for the comment

I commend you on your attitude. Not to many times can you actually find someone as advanced as you actually ask let alone take advise.

Try doing doubles of your last max. What was it again? 365lbs? Try doing 365x2 lets say this week. Next week maybe try doing doubles of 370 or 375. And progress up from there. You can either try that or just tape your eyeballs in to your head and grab that sumbitchen bar and blast that weight into the air. However you do it, GOOD LUCK!!

I would also add now that I have FINALLY got the chance myself. A good training partner and a hand off on the bench is a MUST for going heavy IMO allowing you both to be set up right and have that extra push.

In general work a ton of warmup sets going UP stearing clear of failure. work up to say a plate away from what you are hoping to get. What did you say 405ish. then drop to doubles and singles keeping plenty in the tank for the Last and only set that counts.

Oh and dont say you think your going to get it. Announce/demand a new PR and go get that SOB.

Best of luck,
Phill

if you have to ask this question i’m skeptical if you can actually bench that much weight.

And yes it was a raw bench.
