Setting a Poundage Increase Goal for the Year

Hi,

In previous years I have just plodded along and increased the weights were I can and decreased when needed. I have never really looked at setting a goal increase for the year. Say for example, I will be squatting 20 KG more this time next year. I have read Jim will have his workouts planned out for the entire year. Just wondering if anyone else sets an increase target to aim for, for the year and does this motivate you more?
