Sets/Reps for High Volume Training

Which would be a better set/rep scheme for size and strength, 10x10 or 5x5 followed by 5x10? eg. on Bench 10 sets of 155x10 or 5 sets 225x5 then 5 sets 155x10

10x10 wouldn’t have as much strength benefit compared to the other setup. 5x5 followed by 5x10 would be less volume overall, but a higher relative intensity since you’re moving more weight for the 5x5 work. So, as with any training plan, your specific goal is a factor in which way to go.

Yep, it’s a classic routine for a reason. Or check Thibaudeau’s OVT version which is actually incorporates the 5x5 parameters.
