Seperate Extra Work OK?

I train at the gym by myself, but my dad also wants me to start going when he goes… as sort of a spotter for him. Also…

he has a weird routine where he likes to do every variation of bench press and then do like 3 different isolated tricep exercises. Then on his so called “Back Day” its more like… "

I am gonna use this assisted pull up machine a couple times… then go do every bar and machine that they have for biceps" … anyways… I was wondering if I go to the gym with him having already worked out earlier, or maybe on my off day, Would this be a good time to get some extra work for my bi’s, tri’s, and calves?

I’m assuming there is nothing wrong with this… Also, just doing a few different sets of these wouldnt be intense enough to cause any catabolic effects would it? I am thinking about doing this because I only do compound moves when I train.

And I will have like a serving of whey protein afterwards just to add any calories back that i burned off. Yay or Nay? Sorry for the long random post. Thanks for your time.

You can try it if you want, but personally I can’t think of any good coming to you from working muscles that are just starting to get primed for recovery. Kinda like picking a scab on a cut that’s starting to heal.

See Louie Simmons articles on extra workouts.

Basically keep intensity very low and you should be doing good.

Thanks guys…

I planned on keeping the intensity very low… And it will be seperated from my workout by quite a while… a lot of times on off days. I appreciate the response.

If you are trying to improve specific small muscles then you could try Waterbury’s Perfect 10 training since you’ll be at the gym a lot anyways.
