One other one that I watched on dvd not too long ago that was surprisingly funny was “The Benchwarmers.”

I second Little Miss Sunshine.[/quote]

You’re officially on my “cool” list

I’ve been kind of in this 80’s movie phase lately (for no particular reason), and I just watched the first “Naked Gun” last night. I laughed until stuff shot out my nose.

“Nice beaver!”

“Thanks, I just had it stuffed.”

Classic.

I third Little Miss Sunshine.

Not sure if it’s for everybody’s sense of humor. If you don’t find it hilarious, you’re probably fairly unintelligent…

Grandma’s Boy is the funniest I’ve seen in a while. I was riveted to my DVD player the entire time with my roommate and we laughed non-stop. I was actually disappointed when the movie ended.

I saw it last night. It was pretty damn funny.

I was surprised by Paul Dano (Dwayne). So far I haven’t seen him in much, Girl Next Door is all I can remember him in, he was FANTASTIC. I can’t wait to see a role where he’s the lead or a major supporting actor. His non-speaking was OK, not much he can do there. Once he opened up, he was amazing.

Everyone in the film was great. The “Super Freaky” scene was top notch.

All in all, 2006 was one of the better years of film that we’ve had in a while. The Departed, Last King of Scotland, Babel, Blood Diamond, Miami Vice, The Pursuit of Happyness, Dreamgirls, The Good Shepherd, Casino Royale, Borat, etc… 2007 looks bright as all hell too.

How was Blood Diamond? I don’t understand why DiCaprio got the nod for that and not Departed.

Another vote for little miss sunshine, i finally got around to renting it this weekend. The casting was just about as perfect as it gets.

heres an interesting bit of info about Little miss Sunshine…

“Although the role of the suicidal uncle was originally written for Bill Murray and there was studio pressure for Robin Williams, the part eventually went to Steve Carell.”

Makes you wonder what it would have been like with those two. Bill is a genuis, and ill watch anything he does, but im not sure Robin could settle down enough for this, but he can be a great dramatic actor when he chooses. Legend has it that he improved a good deal of his lines in Good Morning Vietnam.

Did you not see One Hour Photo, Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets or Jack?!?!

I really don’t know. I haven’t seen Blood Diamond all the way through so I can’t comment on his overall performance in it. In The Departed he’s obviously fantastic.

Scorsese better get his goddamn Oscar for The Departed since he’s been snuffed on all of his other films.

Also, Children of Men better win for “Achievement in Cinematography.”

little miss sunshine was great. i saw “the history boys” last week. definitely worth going if you can find a theater that has it.

“8 Days a Week” with Kerri Russell. Hillarious unknown comedy. Kerri looks about 17 in the film and her hair is in it’s fullest glory

I thought the second half of Apocalypto was pretty hilarious in places, namely the comedy panther sequence and the dodgy snake.

I also saw Bubba Ho-Tep recently on DVD, but it depends if you like Bruce Cambell or not. It was pretty funny, he plays Elvis in a retirement home fighting the undead.

Definite vote for Little Miss Sunshine.
I also recently laughed a lot during Idiocracy.

Any time I want a good laugh with old classic movies I will watch :
The Big Lebowski
Raising Arizona
Night Shift
or
a really crazy movie called "Into the night"with Jeff Goldblum and Michelle Phiffer

Yeah, all good examples, ya got me there. Ya left out Patch Adams, i think he toned it down quite well for that one too.

Gotta give a shout-out to Little Miss Sunshine.

It didn’t come to our main theaters here, but later appeared at a smaller theater that shows movies that have been out for a while at discounted rates.

My wife and I went to see it, and I have never, ever been to a movie where there was so much laughing out loud by virtually the whole theater, and it was throughout the whole film.

Great, great movie…the funniest I’ve seen in a long time. We bought it on DVD the day it came out.

The funnier movies I’ve seen lately are these three.

Jackass 2: Non stop outrageous shit. The last sketch with Danger Erin as the terrorist and the cameo by Jay Kandeshaar was some of the funniest shit I’ve ever seen.

Clerks 2: I was thinking it would be stuff like “I"m STILL not supposed to be here today!” or “You sucked 37 MORE dicks?” or “Try not to suck anymore dicks on the way to the parking lot, AGAIN!”

But it wasn’t, it was well written and hilarious. The Pillow Pants scene had me rolling, as did the scene with Wanda Sykes and Earthquake during Randa’s racial slurs.

Beerfest: If you loved Super Troopers, and you love drinking beer, open up a 24 pack with a couple of buddies and laugh your ass off. The cameo by Gunter Schleirkamp and the guy from Das Boot was a suprise. Cloris Leachman stroking a sausage was out of control, Jay Kandeshaar was awesome as was the rest of the cast. Just stupid funny stuff, but awesome.

Need to watch Miss Sunshine still, looking forward to that.
