Seated vs Lying Leg Curl

Paul, what is the difference in muscle activation in these two? And do you pair them with specific compounds?

Like if you do heavy LP for main movement do you like one or the other than say if your main movement for the day were smith high bar squats?

Seated leg curls have more bracing than the lying version, so there’s going to be more output by the hamstrings.

You can also hinge on the seated version to get the hams lengthened while you’re sitting there. Something you can’t do with the lying of course.

I still have people do both.

I have two different gyms I frequent, unfortunately one has the seated leg curl that doesn’t lock you down so I do lying LC at that gym.
