Seated Dumbbell Military Press

Coach no one gives any info bout this exercise,so I was reading t nation article about how military press increases ur bench but I cant do standing due to herniated disc so I started doing with dumbbells seated.Is it still gonna help me increase my bench or the standard military press is the only way to go?Thanks

Should you be lifting at all with a disc problem?

Depends on the herniation,mobility…some recover quickly and do everything without pain,I cant imagine doing deadlift or squats or any type of movement while I am standing,everyone are different.

Hello, no worries the seated dumbell press is just as good as the standing military press to increase your bench press! You use both exercises to strengthen your shoulders and tricep and build muscle mass in these areas since having strong shoulders and arms are very important in a raw bench. However I wouldn’t do low reps on a dumbell exercises so go for higher reps (5+). Don’t forget to train your back hard for a strong bench. This is crucial.
