This article I read in the Times today about natural films that are being created in the lab to protect against food born bacteria caught my eye.
I thought some of you might like to read it and comment about it.
I like the fact that they are looking for ways to replace irradiation with natural films that are made from actual foods that naturally prevent the growth of bacteria.
I think it's a timely subject because of all the recent activity in the food industry with recalls and bans on certain products that have been found to contain food borne bacteria growth. ie remember the baby spinach incident about this time last year in the US?
Interesting for sure....
