School Shooting in Connecticut

Unbelievable, and politics comes a distant second (or third or fourth) behind what should be thoughts, prayers and as much help as we can give the people afflicted by this.

Simply unbelievable.

my sympathies to all affected by this tragedy

What’s messed up is that this isn’t the first nor will it be the last. We’re going to have to have TSA (only armed) type security.

Most of these shooters die but unless we get into the minds of these people there’s no real way to prevent this. He could easily have killed on armed security guard, or bought a gun illegally.

Sad day.

I think these type of events are a symptom of the anti-socialization of boys.

So many boys are at home playing video games, watching porn or hibernating in front of their computers. They do not have the social skills to be productive members of society or find happiness. I’m one of the few people you’ll talk to that believes computers shouldn’t be in elementary schools ( that time should be for building interpersonal skills).

Anyways that’s my hypothesis as to why we are seeing shootings are now happening on a bi-monthly basis.

Want to add: not sympathizing with the shooter

God damn horrible. I can’t even fathom how the human mind can commit such an act. Imagine being one of those parents, racing to the school, yet not being allowed near and hearing no information on your child…

Just awful.

S

You have a violent nation and adding even more security will not change that.

Anyone want to take guesses on which party gets the blame ?

I spent my whole youth basically glued to a screen playing violent video games. So did my friends that I somehow acquired without social skills. I guess that’s why we all became mass murderers instead of graduating from college and getting real jobs. Oh wait… I may be misremembering that.

Maybe the shooter was just a psychopath? Of which the most correlated environmental factors are “having a convicted father or mother, physical neglect of the boy, low involvement of the father with the boy, low family income, and coming from a disrupted family”.

Personally I also think there has to be something genetic involved as well. I just can’t imagine a normal human being is capable of shooting kids unless something is medically wrong with his brain.

I’d bet my fucking ass it’s a middle-aged white guy with extreme right-wing political views.[/quote]

If I was a betting man, my immediate assumption would be this was some sort of custody thing — i.e., “if I can’t have my kid, no one can!” Basic human selfishness and evil. Still my working theory. In short, nothing to do with politics.

That said, the shooter was Ryan Lanza, age 24. From his Facebook page, that is now down, he was an Obama supporter.

Your knee-jerk reaction, however, is interesting. Statistically, middle-age conservative white men are the LEAST likely person to commit, or to ever have committed, a violent crime. This goes down further if they legally own weapons.

Indeed, if you look a mass violent crime in the USA, it’s almost universally either someone who is simply crazy, someone who is, or sympathizes with Islam (e.g., Tim McVeigh), or liberals attempting to force the agenda. In fact, until Islamic groups trumped them, the most consistently violent groups in the USA have been environmental groups and wackos (e.g., Earth Liberation Front, Unibomber, etc).

The fact that the knee-jerk reaction of so many is to blame conservatives is a testament to the power of the liberal media.

EDIT:

photo is apparently some poor shmuck with the same name.

Yeah, good thing there wasn’t a mass attack in a Chinese school today, or your theory would be bullshit.

Oh, wait, there was. Twenty-two kids stabbed in China

Nuts are everywhere.

I believe it’s more about the increased narcissism in today’s people. It takes an over exaggerated sense of your own importance to believe that just because you are pissed off, that life hasn’t been fair to you, you have the right to kill to make things right.

He killed his father in NJ then drove to CT to kill his mother (he did) who was a kindergarten teacher in that school. It is unclear if the kids who were murdered were from her class.
