Scariest Hiking Trail in the World?

Yea that’s a scary walk alright but I would still like to do it.

I can’t believe the fact its over 100 years old. Like who the fuck builds stairs and shit 300m above the ground. That would be a scary job.

I was curious if anyone had died during the walk and according to the wiki article there have been several deaths and the walkway is closed but people still do it.

The vertigo is crazy.

I would add, how the fuck did they build it. Why did they and how many died building it.

I’d really love to do it! You’ll know you’re alive when you’re hiking that puppy!
Yea on some long walks I always ponder how people lug concrete and fencing etc 5-10km from the nearest road and build shit in the bush. This is twice as crazy. Walking it is one thing, but building it, and 100 years ago at that is what I found most impressive.

It would be scary, and you could certainly imperil yourself. But I think with decent competence, it would not be that dangerous. There is a safety line the entire length, it is wide enough for the most part, and there are numerous support beams. What is crazy is realizing that 100 years ago some crazy assholes built this thing.
I would look at that closely, the safety wire is not continuous. And the one point that you have to cross over that metal beam over basically nothing but a river bottom way below, the left wall is gone at that point, so better have good balance !!

That thing gives me the chills just watching the video, NFW actually doing that.

Looks like fun and I’d do it but scary? Hmmmm - it’s all just a man made path, poorly repaired with some big drops - not exactly going to raise my adrenaline much.

I’d say Crib Goch in the winter after a good snowfall would beat it easily. Done at night in a storm for even more giggles.

Anyone with full winter gear, ice tools, axes, crampons and a harness is more than welcome to a guided tour.

Anywhere on the Cuillin Ridge ranges on Skye too.

Renton, I’ve seen your pics and it’s obvious you have no fear whatsoever of harrowing heights provided of course you are well equipped. For those of us with this fear heights like that would induce paralysis/collapse of motor control. I admire your skill, wish I had it.

Where is that? If it were in America, there would have to be a safety net, 13 warnings per step, mandatory helmet and knee pad laws, a bungee cord, 2 lawyers for the waiver signing, and an escort.
I take it you’ve never been to the mountains.

Pick one and climb. Some people free climb entire peaks. If you fall it’s your own dumb ass fault.

I climbed Half-Dome in Yosemite and thought I was hard.

I watched that video and I could feel my nuts retracting.

HA! Me too!

Much respect for that guy moving up there holdign a camera. I am absolutely terrified of heights. I wouldn’t make any fucking effort to get to the top of that fucking trail, but I bet if there was some pussy up there on top of that trail I could get up there.

holy shit, i get scared getting up on the roof to clean the chimney. I had 3 heart attacks just watching that video.

I showed this to my gf who is a nanny, told me she hiked similar trail in portugal with kids she looks after and their parents (who planned the hiking excursion…they were on trip there). I felt like slapping her b/c she’s either full of shit or they’re all retarded for taking toddlers up there

A buddy of mine took his family to Zimbabwe for vacation in the fall of 2007. He showed me the video of him and his wife and 4 kids sitting in Devils Pool at the edge of Victoria Falls. No shit. It is on the edge.

Here is some other crazy family in the pool:

Well looks like theyre going to restore it http://www.euroweeklynews.com/news/13480.html

Looks like I need to get to Spain within a year if I want to do it in its current state…

Anyone who has done the northern part of App trail should know about the knifes edge part or something like that, never done it myself. I have a buddy who tried to tell me about it, apparently it is only a few feet wide with no rails or anything and a tremendous drop on both sides. He said people get that far and then stop because of how scary it is.
