Saw Pametto worthless (or worse)?

I’ve searched and read a bunch of posts on this site regarding Saw Palmetto and see that people are all over the map with it.

My doc has me on a supplement providing 400mg per day, which seems like a relatively normal amount where I would avoid negative effects. (considering that 320mg/day vs. placebo = “The incidence of side effects was similar in the two groups.” http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa053085)

But if the best evidence out there is that it’s worthless at best, is there any reason for me to continue? (other ingredients in supplement are Pygeum 200mg and Nettle 200mg, but doc say Palmetto is the most important ingredient)

For background, I am not suffering from BPH symptoms; the supplement is just something my doc advised at TRT initiation.
