And you have proof that this happened? Harvard and the law school she attended, U of PA I believe, stated this? You have proof she has no Native blood? Trump has a history of mocking Native Americans. Like the comments he made about the casino owners in CT.
I’m not sure where you get that the Navajo Code talker was purporting to speak for all Native Americans or that there is anything more going on that Trump correctly calling out Warren for her fraud and abuse of laws designed to help Native Americans by her false claims of native heritage.
That said, on the topic of purporting to speak for others, the only people outraged are the usual group of stupid white liberals.
And I am (and pretty much every other Apache I know, my sample is largely limited to my tribe are) tired of stupid white liberals expressing outrage supposedly on our behalf.
It’s condescending and insulting. We’re more than capable of taking care of ourselves.
She and her family are not on any rolls of any recognized tribe in the USA or Canada. Period.
I have a photo ID and birth certificate showing my tribal affiliation. Show me the card. Every member of any recognized tribe since the 1920s has one.
As for Trump “mocking” Native Americans, that is a reference to yet more fake Native Americans (turns out they were Italian, I think) who claimed to be members of some defunct tribe to get around gaming laws.
Like Sen. Warren, they were fakes who deserve to be mocked.
The ones that tell you what your “best interests” are and who to vote for based on them?
I’m not of any special interest group, disenfranchised or marginalized or anything else, but that made me cringe when I heard libs (white middle to upper middle class) telling everybody about their “best interests”.
Yeah, I am pretty tired of Big White Mother telling me what I should believe or be offended by. The constant racist condensation of liberals is one of the key things that made me reject their worldview.
Oh, and like the Navajo Code Talker at issue, I yelled “Geronimo” when I jumped out of an airplane for the USA. Wasn’t offended by it then or now.
Begaye, per the Chicago Tribune: “In this day and age, all tribal nations still battle insensitive references to our people. The prejudice that Native American people face is an unfortunate historical legacy.” He noted that the Navajo Nation is still honored by Monday’s White House ceremony.
Norwood, per NBC: “The reference is using a historic American Indian figure as a derogatory insult and that’s insulting to all American Indians.” The President should “stop using our historical people of significance as a racial slur against one of his opponents.”
National Congress of American Indians, per NBC: “We regret that the president’s use of the name Pocahontas as a slur to insult a political adversary is overshadowing the true purpose of today’s White House ceremony. Today was about recognizing the remarkable courage and invaluable contributions of our Native code talkers.”
Worth noting: The podium where the code talkers spoke was set up directly below a portrait of former President Andrew Jackson, who signed the Indian Removal Act into law in 1830.
Wow, some self-appointed leaders say what they’re told to say by white liberals when the actual Navajo involved doesn’t have a problem with Trump calling out faker Warren. Shocking.
Next, prop up Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to opine what all black people must believe.
Me, I’ll stick to being offended by Sen. Warren who put “Pow Wow Chow” in a cook book (plagiarized from French chef) and tried to pass it off as Native American cuisine.
Or the fact that, when she started at Harvard in 1995 she was listed as a “person of color” for Affirmative Action purposes.
Again, she’s NOT ON ANY ROLL OF ANY TRIBE. She’s a fraud.
So that means it’s impossible for her to have Native blood? I’m sure plenty of Americans with Native ancestors are not any rolls, some might not even know they have Native blood.
No, that isn’t what happened. Trump mocked one tribe that wanted to open a casino while he was giving money to another which wanted to open a casino. And no, it did not turn out they were Italian. I think you got that from the Sopranos. Interestingly, Trump actually had the Indian tribe that did open Fowwoods casino, and who he said did not look like Indians in 1993, on his show The Apprentice. I guess he changed his mind about them.
Pretty much this. Sean Spicer can now show up and speak at random events and I’m guessing he’d get paid more for a 20 minute speech than most of us make in a week. So SHS will be set once Trump’s time is done.
I think by now, a vast majority of the nation realizes that Trump is not fit to be president. I personally identify as a moderate conservative, and I think DJT is pretty bad; I believe that Sarah Huckabee Sanders privately thinks DJT is an absolute moron. I saw an interview with Spicer, post-resignation (or was he fired?) and all but admitted that DJT is a bad president. His nervous laughter when asked if he thought Trump was a good person was a pretty clear indicator. He also stated that he never really considered being Trump’s press secretary, but rather he got a call out of the blue offering him a job, so he accepted. If I was in his position, not knowing much about how Trump would be as a president, I too would’ve accepted the job. I would imagine that being the press secretary of a popular president is one of the most fun jobs in America.
Back to the topic at hand, I think that Sarah is definitely going to cash out after this is all said and done. Good for her. She truly deserves it, dealing with and TRYING to justify all the things that Donald Trump says and does. She catches mad shit for every distasteful tweet the president puts out, and it wouldn’t surprise me if people have questioned her about tweets that she didn’t even know the president posted. That can’t be easy or fun. So basically, I don’t hate her, she’s just doing her job. She deserves to cash out eventually.
It’s called “Playing the Long Game”, isn’t it, lava?
In many people’s everyday Job’s they put up with a LOT more for a lot less… with very little, (if anything) they do having the potential to lead to millions.
I don’t waste any tears for the “toughness” of SHS’s job.
Yeah that’s what I’m getting at. I don’t feel bad for her, but I wouldn’t want that job even WITH the knowledge that I’d be a millionaire someday. It isn’t worth having half of America hate you because of who you work for/are associated with.
