Sandbags Causing Back Pain

Just made my first sandbag today… two bags of gravel into a large sea bag, then inside another. Anyway I have found that even after playing with a few different techniques - I get discomfort in the lower back that takes about an hour go away.

Any advice on lifting such objects?

Man - don’t lift those things! It’ll make your back all muscley and shit.

There aren’t too many clean ways to lift a heavy sandbag. That’s actually the point of lifting the thing. It forces your body into odd positions and forces you to use the core stablizers more than a nice, clean, well-balanced barbell. Maybe reduce weight until you find a groove with it?
