Sales Jobs $$$???

WTOP, all news broadcaster in Virginia (http://wtop.com/), recently reported the median salary for a car salesman is $45,000 annually. Their poll included a stratified random sample of used and new car salesman, across all price ranges.

Considering used cars sell for less than new cars, as well as other factors, it seems reasonable to assume used car salesman do not make much money. The selection at the used car lot up the street from my home is incredibly poor.

For the purpose of this discussion, not much money is defined as less than $75,000.00 annually.

Well, I didn’t look to find what the national average income is, but I think it’s pretty safe to say it’s 35k to 40k.

Most of the people I know would do backflips for 75k, but it’s kinda moot I guess.

Anyways, there is much more money in used cars than new. There are obviously many shittly used car lots out there, but if you are a nicer lot or work the used lot of a new dealership, and you can actually sell, that’s where the money is.

I’d imagine that if you look at the national average income for “sales” jobs, it’s pretty close to 45k. That does not mean people aren’t making money in sales.

I have a few friends who sell cars and they tell me that they make more on used car sales than new.
