Rugby practice starts this week and over the off season I have been working on conditioning since that was my biggest shortcoming during the spring season. So far I have made modest improvements and am still not where I would like to be at this time. I think my lack of progress is that I didn't approach the training properly or my age(41) or that I didn't approach it properly for my age.
I am hoping that I can count on practice to bring up my conditioning quickly. So, my question is if I can count on practices to cover my endurance needs, how would I set up training the rest of the week to focus on strength and speed? I am not overly concerned with bodyweight since I am pretty much where I need to be for my position so gaining or losing a few pounds isn't a big deal. We practice on Tuesday and Thursday with games on Saturday. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
