Royce vs Hughes: Who Will It Be?

So Royce is returning to the octagon. Against Matt Hughes no less.

Let the predictions begin: who will it be: old school or hybrid. Can BJJ withstand the “new” MMA system or vice versa?

Royce isn’t at his prime, but he is still a master of submissions, so it is possible that he can win this.

My gut say Hughes will win, but I am pulling for Royce.

Remember that Royce has faced some of the toughest opponents in MMA. Also, BJ Penn annihilated Matt Hughes on the ground. Gracie has the experience, but Hughes is an animal. I think Matt Hughes might come out on top if the current UFC rules are in play, but don’t count Gracie out of it. Most people (myself included) will probably be pulling for Royce.

I would have to go with Royce. I train at a gracie school and I know that primarily over past year or 2 they have modified their fighting Jui-Jitsu to better fit the new MMA style of fighting. but you never know that is why they fight.

Long and short of it…I believe it will be Hughes by decision.

Hughes will ground and pound the hell out of Gracie all fight. He wont be able to finish him but he’ll get a clear cut unanimous decision.
