Routine Question (Critique)

I’m lifting 2 days a week currently on a fullbody split. I tried it 3 times a week, and it just wasn’t feasible for me in terms of time, effort, recovery, etc, so I went back to twice a week because, well because I got good resluts off twice a week. Thing is, I like my 3 work out routine, I’m fond of it.

I’m thining that I can still do all 3 and workout twice a week. I’ll just do workout A on Tuesday, B on Friday, C on Tuesday, A on Friday, etc.

I’m basically doing:
A: flat bench 5x5, cable rows (w rope)5x5, squats 5x5
B: Incline machine 5x5, standing press 5x5, rack pulls 4x5
C: Dips 5x5, chin ups 5x5, leg press 4x6

I think I’m gonna be OK as I’m hitting my whole body in each workout, and from what I’ve read, I may be doing myself a favor by only squatting and doing rack pulls once every 10 days or so. I’d just like to get an opinion from some more advanced people. Make sure there’s not anything that screams, “What is this dum-dum doing!?!?!”

thanks.

Personally I don’t think you’re working each muscle group often enough.

But that’s just me. Or is it…

Id kick out the incline machine press and do a row on day B.

It does not look like you are doing very much.

I mean if you are not recovering from such a small volume of work:

A: Your Nutrition may not be very good

or

B: Your might be really really old

I’m putting my money on A.

What does your nutrition plan look like?

I think my nutrition’s pretty good, if somewhat simple for what I read here. I eat 3 square meals a day of real food, and will grab a protein bar for a snack in between. I tned to stay on a fighters diet, because that’s what I know. very high carb, high protein, sufficient fiber, I cheat as well, I like my goodies.

I can’t lift on a lot of programs here because it’s too much for me. I’m a white collar professional, single father, judoka, and still train the heavy bag twice a week. I have a lot on my plate right now.

What i do is read the training articles and try to pull out the relevant concepts. (big exercises, high intensity, nutrition, rest, full body concept, etc) and try to condense it into something workable for me. Besides, I kinda like planning out routines. It’s fun and it forces me to think about what it is I’m trying to accomplish.

I just like asking about it here because you learn the most from the people who have been in the trenches.

No not old at all. Sounds like your pretty active in your daily life. Maybe try some supplements that aid in recovery, creatine and fish oil.

Do you still recommend fish oil if you eat fish at least twice a week? I try to stay away from supplemsnts unless they are ‘necesary’. Right now, I only take a multi vitamin from GNC. (I don’t consider protein snacks a supplement. I use them as more of a snack)

There’s a flaw in your logic. Nothing sold at GNC is ever necessary…

Yes Fish Oil should be a staple regardless of how much fish you eat.
