Round 2 Lifting

Congratulations on your time! You got sober 5 months after my birthday. Crazy.

@EmilyQ thank you! I appreciate it.

It’s funny when you put it in those terms, because I think about the old saying (can’t vouch for its truthiness, but it sounds good) that one’s maturity halts at the point which they started using.

Then I’m like “Yeah! I’m almost old enough to buy beer again!”.

Didn’t you have 12-15 years of sobriety before you started using and halted your emotional development? You get to add that on. You’re moving right through early adulthood!

On a serious note, it’s been a great joy of my work life to be allowed to observe and be a part of the accelerated maturation process that begins at recovery.

Not quite. I was 11 when I started regularly drinking and smoking pot, and at 12 it was full on using with a purpose (escape).

Well, then, happy 30th birthday!

Thank You!

And my apologies to @round2lifting if I’ve hijacked the log.

@SkyzykS no problem…LOL. I had my first beer when I was 12, by 14 I was hitting up my dad’s hidden vodka, from 16-18 I was smoking, drinking, sniffing pills, etc. I wasn’t in the field for too long before I crashed and burned, but my addiction would have killed me before 21. I’m finally making up for lost time.

Oh, you’re very fortunate. Crashing quickly can be a saving grace in many regards. The stuff going on now is so absolutely deadly its literally here today, gone tomorrow. Just from one month to the next about half a meeting I was going to got wiped out. You can tell pretty quickly who’s walking the walk and who’s just talking the talk when a hot batch hits the street.

Good luck!

@SkyzykS Ah, the 30-day wonder. All their problems have magically disappeared with just a month of abstinence! Until Day 32 or 33 comes along and they decide they have their addiction under control. Deadly stuff…fentanyl kills people like Raid kills insects.

Anyway, I’m alive, just have been very busy working extra hours so I can make extra money. I passed my license test and can now drive anywhere I want to.

It’s freeing. I like driving to meetings and work more than walking there. I also got a good workout in today…today was my first real off day in about a week. I have tomorrow off as well before I go back into work for another 5 days straight. Will be floor pressing tomorrow.

135 x 5

360 x 12 - PR

This set only took me 1:44. Good speed on the reps…looks more like a set than a series of singles. Body weight is firmly at 200.

500 is so close I can taste it.

Will be going hard on direct ab work as I continue to drop notches on my weight belt. As of today, I dropped an extra notch.

Good workout today, I’m continuing to lose weight slowly but surely. Reset my rack to be a lot safer and easier to lift from. BW 197-198 after my workout. I also think I’m going back to college (online).
