I just got some of the above named product as I was told it would help me out in the gym with an energy boost. Has anybody heard of or used this product and if so what if any results are you getting. It comes in 100mg capsules and the dose I was told to run with is five a day on my work out days which are three or four days a week depending on how I feel. Also if it matters that I am sixty years old and been going to the gym off and on for the past six to eight years.I’m 5’11" and my weight runs from 200 to 210 most of the time. Thanks for any feed back on this one also. Joe, Rhodiola Rosea or Golden Root, acts as a mild depressant, so it doesn’t sound like a good product to take pre-workout. However, in one Russian study, the root was found to prevent stress induced cardiac damage. Another site I looked at said, “Rhodiola rosea has been shown to shorten recover time after prolonged workouts, to increase attention span, memory, strength, and anti-toxic action. Rhodiola rosea extract increases the level of enzymes, RNA, and proteins important to muscle recovery after exhaustive exercise. It has also been shown to increase the levels of beta-endorphin in blood plasma which helps prevent the hormonal changes indicative of stress. This effect has also been linked to maintaining an increased cardiac output and subsequently having a cardioprotective effect. Studies using proofreading tests have demonstrated that Rhodiola rosea enhances memorization and concentration ability over prolonged periods. Finally, Rhodiola has been shown to increase anti-tumor activity by increasing the body’s resistance to toxins.”
(It falls into the adaptogen category, like ginseng, which means those selling it claim that it does damn near everything.) That quote above sounds good and well, but honestly, I doubt you’ll feel anything. If you’re looking for a pre-workout boost, try Power Drive or plain old caffeine. (Or both! My favorite!)
Adaptogens work like gangbusters if you get the right extract. i believe it is best to get them in combo with other adaptogens.
THANKS FOR THE FEED BACK ON THE RHODIOLA TRIP. ANY COMMENTS ON MY DEPO-TEST PART???
Rhodiola is the active ingredient in a supplement called Crenulin RCC.
This supplement has one of the shadiest ads and package I have ever
seen. It is made to look exactly like a steroid package, and is sold as
a “deep tissue oxygenator”. The ad copy reads “now legal in the US”,
like it was ever banned here. Based on this, I doubt it does jack squat.
