I know it’s kind of random and uncalled for since you’re about to do a meet, but I always forget you’re a state over and we’re both close to the borders of our neighboring states so we’ve definitely gotta do a strongman show together, or maybe I’ll just swallow my pride and do a meet so I can total nothing bahaha.

I wouldnt say uncalled for haha. I cant promise a SM meet anytime soon. Still chasing a big total. Also as beat up as my lower back and hip has been SM is just not for me right now.

Great video.

I literally just found out about screwing the floor from Chris Duffin.

I am having knee pain, and I have done this for one session, and it did seem to provide me benefit.

I actually just made a post about this in my log.

I like this as a cue is better for me than “force your knees out.”

When I force my knees out, I feel like I take it too far and my knees shoot over my small toes too much (not a ton), and the medial part of my foot lifts off the ground. I feel like this causes me to lose power as my whole foot is not on the ground and my knee is not directly over top of my foot for every rep (the optimal position for power transfer according to my own logical abilities).

When I screw my feet outward, my knee stays over my toe, my glutes seem to activate better, and I feel as if my foot still tracks over my toe somewhat more appropriately.

Now, like you said, squatting is a highly individual thing. What works for me may not work for you. Hell in 6 months, this may not feel good any more.

I feel like I am always relearning form.

As I get bigger, my form changes too.

Definitely keep making more videos when possible. That was good stuff.

Good luck!

Or has it happened already?

So full write up from start to finish. Wound up cutting to 218 no problem felt great nothing but water loading. Full day of fluid and food and weighed 230 morning of meet.

Squat: Screwed my self here. Opened 560 and attempted to go wide and sure enough hip just wouldn’t allow me to hit depth. I hit about a inch high and flew out 560 was a paper weight literally bounced off my shoulders. But only 1 white light. So, Sam had me move my feet in to see if it would help and 560 sunk and flew up 3 whites. Problem here was that whether it was my fault or spotters I was told I was “in” and set the bar down and the right side was not in the catches. This forced my shoulder down hard and heard a vicious pop and instant burning and tingling in that arm oh, and yes for any one who follows me this is the shoulder that is already constantly fucked up. Third attempt went 585 to be safe was intensely painful to even get the bar on my back. I am squinting from the pain in my shoulder the weight was light and I had 600 or more no problem today. I know I left at least 20 pounds on the platform. But I honestly don’t know if I could have concentrated with the extra weight pushing down on the arm. 25lbs meet PR

Bench: This was actually not horrible. Getting set up and pulling my shoulders back for a arch was extremely painful but the weight pushing into my shoulders once it was in hand was actually a relief. Opened 315 3 whites, 330 3 whites, 340 I got 2/3 white lights. My left ass cheek came up slightly so I forced the right one down into the bench to hide it from other judge. 15lbs meet PR. 5lbs all time PR.

Deadlift: This was pure torture and had me in tears after my first attempt from the weight pulling my shoulder down. At this point I could barely even raise my arm with out intense pain. But none the less 550 smoked, 575 smoked and pulled 600 so fucking close to lockout I calling it a PR hahahaha. Def no whites on it but to be that close at the end of meet after a insanely tiring and painful day I have to say I hit it at least in my heart. 575 was a 10lbs meet PR.

I ended the day with my Total goal even though I missed my Squat goal and ended with 1500 @ 218 Junior. I had a great time and basically hung out with Sam Byrd, Brandon Lilly, Tee Cummins, Mark and Dusty Miller and a ton of other awesome guys all day.

Awesome meet!

Awesome job dude. You manned up and made the most of a tough situation after they fucked up your shoulder.

Nice job man.

niiiiice work there bestie!

Now get that shoulder rehabbed.

Congrats dude, great job.

Great Job Reed! What are the plans for the shoulder?

Thanks every one.

Alpha I am going to give it a day or two and see how pain and swellign is going. If it appears to be healing fine I probably wont do much at all other than continue to baby it. If how ever I do not see any improvements in it I will be forced to seek out a specialist and most likely be looking at xrays and all that good stuff. How ever I have no popping or any real range of motion issues. Believe it or not it actually felt like I was stronger Benching yesterday after it happened than I had been in a long time. Really the only thing that sucks is the inflamtion right on top of my shoulder. There is no bruising or signs of muscle damage. So worst case hopefully it is just strained. Best case it is just sore but the force of the bar forced it back into place and now I wont have shoulder problems after this and Ill be a 400 bencher by the end of the year lol. I gotta keep my head up.

squat was super easy, cant believe you missed that last pull!

You finally deserve some rest now bahahaha, reading that meet summary made me cry in pain.

…God status, Reed!

Hahahaha I couldnt either I was so happy and mad at the same time. I have never been so close to hitting 600 not even with straps and hitching and it just flew up and I couldnt lock it out. I have only pulled Conventional for 3 weeks counting yesterday so I just couldnt figure out how to lock out. Yeah I had 600 no doubt if I had not fucked my shoulder up :frowning: oh well. But after this I already I paid my dues for Record breakers in November I am so fucking ready to go I am going to be smart and just take training alot slower and smarter this next 3 months I am going to kill 600/350/600 then I have no doubt after the day I had yesterday If I can find half the guts I had yesterday it wont even be almost a issue. Last Novmeber I totaled 1380 at Record Breakers im looking at adding damn near 200lbs to my total AGAIN this year.

Lol thanks Vinny

Future summary from Reeds next meet

Squat: I popped my jugular on my opener and lost half of my weight in blood, but I took 700 anyway 550x1-600x1-700x1!!!
