I was recently asked how to reduce the discomfort of some pretty painful gear. The pain is thought to be from one of three things.
too much BA
too high of a concentration (supertest 450)
I replied with the following:
I thought this would make for great discussion as there are some pretty smart guys around here and many who brew themselves. Here is an article I came across while looking up some stuff. Not sure if it applies, but it suggests some very interesting theories.
This suggests BA can be significantly reduced via filtration. What are you guys’ takes on this, and possible ways to reduce BA concentration of pre-made gear.
Can one safely assume a similar reduction would occur from an oil-based carrier solvent? Isn’t BA much less likely to leave an oil-based solution than the alcohol-based suspension referenced in that original study?
“Triamcinolone acetonide occurs as a white to cream-colored, crystalline powder having not more than a slight odor and is practically insoluble in water and very soluble in alcohol.”
