No I don’t think it should be banned. But good for society in the way it’s being consumed presently? No way.
You think it is possible for the trend to swing back, and after years of so much abuse and over saturation of the market, people will generally give up the taboo curiosity and go back to “regular” life?

Are you kidding?
Once you lose the black and white tv, there is no looking back.
Three decades from now, men will all be too weak kneed to walk down the street.
Enough estrogenic compounds in the environment and I am sure the entire race will be ready for cultivation as food before 2075.

If the average girlfriend/wife returns to being thin and girly, possibly.
Watching porn and watching porn AND beating off to it, are two VERY different things. The former can easily just be viewed as a form of entertainment (though it still has its negatives) but the latter tends to turn into a huge mess as it progresses.
I bet if we compared porn revenue by country (adjusted for population size differences and purchasing power) against an obesity chart by country you’d find fatter countries consume more porn.

Oh, in terms of the acting and plot?
Well, ya, it’s horrible. If they were good actors, they wouldn’t be doing porn. Isn’t like 90% of porn made in LA or the surrounding area?
Sometimes the plots aren’t too bad, if it’s a fantasy for you the plot can be great, actually. For example: if you have a hot doctor or nurse and you can relate to a doctor or nurse porn, then you’d probably think the plot was good (if you can get past the horrible, horrible acting). Then again, it could give you a false sense that it could actually happen in real life that easily (or at all) so maybe it is bad, regardless…
The same thing that makes anything bad? My morality?
Ok…what is MORALLY WRONG about watching two people have sex? (let’s keep this simple, folks)

What makes war bad?
Uhm, you wrote:
The same can be said about sending your son an/or daughter to war.
Not an answer to my question, nor does it address the point of the question.
In other words, nothing rational makes war bad, you just know it is.
To add to this, sometimes war is necessary. I don’t think the freedom of our nation will ever be preserved by porn and I can’t see any other justifiable NEED for it.
I would be disappointed if my child did porn. I would not be disappointed if they decided to join the military and died serving their country. I would be sad, but proud nonetheless.

Ah, I leave the value judgments up to the individual.
I leave the bottle alone because for me it is a destructive influence in my life. Others feel the same about porn.
Thing is, I don’t agree with demonizing behaviors, substances, or other objects. Good for a person to varying degrees, bad to varying degrees, or somewhere in between-sure.
I don’t think that it is inherently malignant or in any way good because simply put- it is the recording of a sex act, it doesn’t have conscience or intention.

Personally I like when they just get right down to it aswell but if you watch porn with a chick they like a bit of a story… Also storys lend to creative names like my new favorite Asian porn (Pacific Rim job)
On a side note X why do all the black dudes in porn always leave their socks on?
The only thing I can think that it contributes to society in a negative way is that a female is a sex object. Not all women like to be treated as the girls in porn all of them do it for the money. So young guys and gal’s who can be influenced by it should know the context and it’s purpose. They should also know that getting a girl to s yo d or anything takes more respect then offered in porns. Just watched good one today. Served it’s purpose.
I saw a rap show and a dude said I’ll put more red dots on your ass then Montana Fishburne. I never laughed so hard in my life. Feel bad for Lawrence but that’s life. Everyone is responsible for their own actions. I would hate if people tried to outright ban it.
