John, I was wondering if you have looked at Healthetech’s BodyGem gadget that you breath into and it will tell you what your RMR is…
Seems like it would be a neat thing to use if it really works!

I saw their display at the recent ACSM meeting. They commisioned a validation study by a good lab (David Niemen) which demonstrated it was valid and reliable for resting measurements. Nifty little gadget although kind of pricey (~$1500) for the average person. If you have the money, and want the info, it is, according to their data, as good as the $50,000 piece of equipment that I have in my lab.
