I was wondering what JMB’s opinion on glycerine and the other “hidden carbs” that show up in most protein bars. Should these count when calculating low carb meals? Or do they not effect insulin the same as regular carbs?
I remember Lyle McDonald answering this in a mesomorphosis Q@A question. I think he was undecided because glycerol wouldn’t affect insulin levels and there was a lot of it floating around from breaking down fat making it OK. I can’t remember the reason he said it might not be OK, sorry.
