Question for Chris Shugart: Powerdrive and breakfast

Hey Chris…I got a bottle of Powerdrive and was hoping to improve my concentration and memory at school by taking a serving in the morning. My question is, can I mix a serving with breakfast (MRP or solid food) or would that negate the effects? If I can’t, how long should I wait after taking some before I eat anything? My first college class is at 8 am, so I have to get up at 6 am. Thanks for any help, I appreciate it!

It’s best to take it on an empty stomach. I like to get some protein as soon as I wake up, but if I’m using Power Drive I’ll take it first (usually with a caffeine tab), wait 10 or 15 minutes, then get a protein shake. You can mix it with food or an MRP, but this might affect your results a little. I’ve put it into a small serving vanilla Grow! mixed with water before and can still feel the “on” effect it gives. Still, ideally, take it on an empty stomach. If you shower in the morning you can take it first, shower, then eat.

Great question, maclar! I had the same one brewin’ in my T-clouded head. Always got some type of question up there. Anyway, I’ve been training first thing also, as I start classes early. What I’ve been doing is eating (~6am), showering, then taking PowerDrive and some ephedrine (~6:45), then hit the gym around 7 or a little after and pounding the weights by 7:30. I can’t say that I really felt the “on” that I did when I took it on an empty stomach. I was actually going to experiement with what Chris suggested in his response. I’ll probably give it a shot next training session. I’ll let you know how it pans out. Drop one on me if it works out for ya. Later, bro.

I make a pre-workout drink of PowerDrive, around 20-30 grams of glutamine, Ribose-C, Flax oil all mixed in one drink. Tastes great and i feel the PowerDrive effect just fine.
I only wish it came in another flavor. The Orange flavor is getting to me after using it for so long.

Poliquin wrote an article on preparing for the perfect workout. You should find it in the archives - it has some pretty good stuff and talks about powerdrive and ephedrine.

Another good use for Power Drive is to have some in mid-afternoon, inbetween meals. I have found this to be a great substitute for afternoon coffee, which I sometimes tend to consume a great deal of, which somehow makes me feel bloated and full, and I don’t want that feeling to get in the way of my eating. Voila! Power Drive 90 minutes after my last feeding, my head clears and I’m pumped and ready to go.

Timbo, took a serving before my morning class today (on empty stomach, waited 'bout 20 minutes before Grow! meal) and felt great! Tomorrow, I will compare mixing it in my breakfast Grow!..let ya know how it goes.

Definitely a difference taking Powerdrive on an empty stomach! Mixed it with some Grow! and it didn’t seem to have the same effect as when I took it on an empty stomach.

maclar…thanks for the update, buddy. I’ll have to give it a shot first thing in the morning on an empty tummy–that’s probably the only time it’s empty all day. I tried taking it Friday about an hour and a half after a shake and a half hour before training and didn’t seem to really derive any benefit. Also, Saturday it didn’t seem to kick in real well. So I’m going to train without it for a week or so and then come back to it and hopefully get a nice kick in the pants. Later, bud.
