Question About Dosing of Fish Oil?

Hey guys,

I have a cheap fish oil from Wal-mart with this:

Serving Size 2 softgels

Calories 25
Calories from fat 20
Total fat 2.5g (sat .5, poly .5, mono 1g)
Protein 1g

Fish Oil 2400mg (EPA 432) (DHA 288) (Other 24)
Omega-3 720 mg

I take 4servings daily which is 10g of fat.

Now, I am taking 10g of fish oil, or only 4?
Is this enough?

Thanks guys.

Is what I’m taking thought the equivalent to 10g of fish oil or only 4 though?

you are taking 10 grams of fish oil, but only 4 grams of omega 3s.

The total amount of fat has nothing to do with it if you are usng fish oil for the reasons most people do. As an athlete you need to look at the amount of EPA/DHA you are taking, the rest is just junk.

So for you you are taking about 3000 mg of epa/dha which is ok. They are doing research right now on EPA/DHA in athletes at around 20,000 mg of EPA/DHA so I would suggest increasing your dose.

I also would be worried about mercury and PCB’s in your fish oil so go online and buy some quality liquid fish oil where you can get 9,000 mg in a tablespoon.

You’re suggesting he increase based on the fact someone is studying higher intakes? (i.e. no results / conclusions) Aren’t you jumping to conclusions?
