Quest For Strength

Inspired by the recent “what do you power clean?” and “double bodyweight bench” threads, I’m wondering how do people exactly gain these kind of strength levels? I see a lot of people posting insanely high numbers in bench, squat, dead, clean, and overhead press. Is this a result of training for size or training for pure strength?

Just some general info on what worked for you guys would be great.

The two are not inseparable entities. Hypertrophy and strength are generally developed simultaneously, but I would bet most used a strength program and busted their balls. Form follows function.
