Problems with Libido and ED After Thyroid Removal

Hello everone

I took two weeks ago one pill of KELP, I felt bad, was sleepy, loose completly libido. I think it’s not for me. Do you have similar symptoms?

I think I found preety good endo doc. He seems to be intrested in my case. He want to see on next visit my MRI scan and blood test of: TESTOSTERONE, ESTRADIOL,FSH,LH,DHEA-S. It will be on may.

What makes me sad is that he said, that my high Estradiol is beacuse of my genes (I think it is not beacuse before operation everything was ALL RIGHT). Anyway he is the guy who cares.

After taking Vitex I had more often Morning wood, sometimes during day,but it is still many to do.

Also I will have opportunity to take Cialis, I will do it probabyly this weekend.

  • advice for new guys, ob open minded to other health issues
  • thyroid basics
    – check your body temperatures
    – if body temperatures are low, your thyroid meds are not strong enough

please post your thyroid labs with ranges, we are interested in:
TSH, fT3, fT4, rt3

fT4 does look good, but it is fT3 that gets the job done. Some have poor T4–>T3 conversion and most are taking only T4 meds

Your estradiol [E2] is very high and that reduces LH/FSH. Some drugs can increase E2 levels by reducing the livers ability to remove estrogens from the blood. List what drugs you are taking and provide lab data that is indicative of liver health [AST/ALT]. You may have to take a drug that reduces E2 by reducing T–>E2 aromatization. The drug anastrozole/Arimidex can be very effective. Suggest 0.5mg/week in EOD divided doses. This may be the key to your problem. The cause of high E2 needs to be determined.

Before you had thyroid cancer, was your thyroid always a bit large? Your neck would have appeared to be thick at that area. Has you been using iodized salt long term? sometimes? never?

I have Arimidex. I divide 1mg pill on half, then half on for parts. I will give me 0,5mg/week EOD. first pill I took few minutes ago.

Also for about week I came back to Kelp. I feel much better.I have More energy and better mood, but ED still occurs. Anyway it gives me more energy to solve problem.

I took about 0,7 mg of Arimidrex this week(each day about 0,25 mg), every second day. If my last portion is today, can I test my stradiol monday morning ? Is this test will be valuable ?

hey my cholesterol is

218 top of range is 190 !

is this could affect my problems ???

Hello 23.5.2014 I’ve made labs, by the way during 21-22-23.05.2014 i had morning and night erctions, and during good times I ve made labs

but on 24/25 everything starts to be the same no erection during night and morning

so here are the labs from 23.05, they ver made about 9 o’clock:

Estradiol: 39 pg/ml [7,63-42,60]

FSH: 1,16 mIU/ml [1-14]

LH: 2,71 mIU/ml [1,7- 8,3]

Testosterone: 4,40 ng/ml [2,8-8]

DHEA-SO4- 492 ug/dl [160-449]

So as you see there are pretty big fluctuations on my body, especially LH,and testosterone. DHEA is slightly bigger but I dont know is it a clue.

I took about 5 weeks KELP (and lose about 3-4kg), now I’m about 81 kg, at the moment stop taking it beacuse it not give as much energy as used to or i wiil take it 2 pills per week.

Important info, I have MRI result on 3 Tesla machine, here you go:

around the right parahippocampal small cavity with a diameter of 6 mm non strengthening after application of contrast.
some very minor non-specific lesions in the white matter of both frontal lobes.
cerebral hemispheres and cerebellum without focal lesions and pathologic features of strengthening after aplication of contrast.
inflammatory changes in the bulrushes.
mucosal thickening in the maxillary sinuses and frontal sinuses.

neurologists say its ok, otolaryngologist give me antibiotic for my sinus, my headache seems to be much smaller.

I will see my endo, and will ask him what he thinks.

Ok PLEASE HELP., please for some advice

My doc said that the cause is unknown, can I try measure any other hormone to know what is going on ???

Problem probably solved, I have Varicocele. Will have surgery.

I had surgery palomo method 5 days ago. I had the worst grade of vaicocele. I started having night erections two days after surgery. Despite I am tired after surgery, but blackouts dissapere. Will see in few months is my testosterone recover. I see the light in tunnel, but should did that operation 5 years ago.

Is there any diffrence between testosterone recovery in non microsurgical varicocelectomy and microsurgical varicocelectomy (any article from Pubmed)? How long I sholud wait for effects, when I should do lab tests ??? Please for answer.

I did first lab tests after surgery.

FT4: 1,38 NG/DL (0,7-1,48)

FT3: 3,31 PG/ML (1,71 - 3,71)-------> gain from 2,86 pg/mL, but my goal is what I had begore my thyroid surgery 3.9 pg/mL

TSH: 0,47 (0,35-4,94)

ESTRADIOL 32 PG/ML [7,63-42,60] -----> as you can see E2 drops from 41, I can surerely feel it I am much less iritable person, bitch mode almost off.

Testosterone: 3,51 ng/ml [2,8-8] ------> this is what is worring me. It almost didn’t change. I can feel that I am more sexually sensitive, but I think it’s due to lower e2. I have 2-3 mornig erections during week after surgery, before I had 2 during 2 or 3 weeks.

LH: 2,41 mIU/ml [1,7- 8,3]

FSH: 1,3 mIU/ml [1-14]

KSman if you are able please answer, why my Testosterone didnt go up when my E2 go down ???

Should I made any other labtests, or take more Levothyroxine??? ( I am taking 175 now)

Anyway I will repeat ft3,ft4,tsh labtests on monday to exclude mistake beacuse I am confused with so big change in ft4-ft3 conversion

Hello I made yeasterday new bloodwork, and thats how results look 2,5 months after varicocelotomy:

30.12.2014

FT4: 1,29 NG/DL (0,7-1,48)

FT3: 2,77 PG/ML (1,71 - 3,71)-------------> As you see when Estradiol grows, FT4 and FT3 drop.

TSH: 0,14 (0,35-4,94)

ESTRADIOL 41 PG/ML [7,63-42,60] -----------------> Estradiol grows 9 PG/ML

Testosterone: 5,41 ng/ml [2,8-8]-----------------> Testosterone grow almost 2 ng/ml.

LH: 2,16 mIU/ml [1,7- 8,3]

FSH: 1,21 mIU/ml [1-14]

  • T grows, but sad that E2 grows also, cant sleep at night, dont have wood during night

3.1.2015
FT3 2,81 pg/ml
Estradiol 22 pg/ml
Testosteron 2,55 ng/ml

-T drop, E2 as well, I am very sleepy, I have wood during night

Do you have suggestions? Should I check any other hormone which can cause my hormones rolercoaster?

I will let you know what urologist will say i think till the end of month.

I do not understand how T would drop like this, must be something with LH/FSH.

I spoke with urologists. Surgery went well. Testis are healthy. Their volume are:

left 17,3 ml

right 18,7 ml

range is 15-25 ml

I show him my labtests, and say that I have pretty low T considering my age and that I have pretty big T and E2 fluctuactions. Doc said that fluctuactions are normal and T is also in range. Hahaha it’s funny they almost never doesn’ t raise a qustion WHY ? WHAT CAUSE IT? HOW TO CHECK IT? Nevermind. So in case of testis this doc explain pretty much, in state of hormones he doesnt.

I did some other hormones labtests:

Prolactine (range 2,64-13,13)- 12,35ng/ml

Androstenedione(do not have on rsults) - 2,47 ng/ml

17-hydroxyprogesterone (0,20-2,3) - 2,47 ng/ml H

Aldosterone (do not have on rsults)- 5,98 ng/dl

Cortisol (do not have on rsults)- 17,54 µg/dl

I start doing my own research at the moment but if anybody see expalnation for high 17-hydroxyprogesterone, let me know.

Prolactin is elevated and it and E2 reduce LH/FSH production.

Cortisol depends on time of day:

“my thyroid surgery”:
Check your body temperatures as per the thyroid basics sticky. You can use body temperature as a dosing guide. If you need high fT3 to get normal body temperatures or can’t get normal body temperatures, your fT3 might be getting blocked by rT3.

Some adrenal problems cause swings in body temperature, perhaps in other functions as well.

IMO you should be on desiccated thyroid. You seem to have a lot of problems so doubt it would be the cure all, but t4 only is a waste for most with thyroid problems…especially since you don’t even have one anymore. Desiccated will give you direct t3 along with t2, t1, and Calcitonin.

  1. Thanks for response. I wiil measure my temp. But I cant check rt3, beacuse its unavailable in my country.

  2. I am eager to think that problem may be caused by pitiuray gland. Why ? Beacuse after varicoceles surgery my estradiol was low, which makes grow FT3 and FT4 a lot (I posted those lab tests 2-11-2014).So it is strange that is growing and making prolactine high few months later. And I posted my lab tests when my T and E2 were hesitate very strongly (10-01-2015).

a). What reveal I have sinus nasal inflammation not treated by about 5 years.

3.BTW my ACTH resul : 26,27 pg/ml 7,20 - 63,30 N. And look also at mine CORTISOL its also pretty high. So cortisole is stealing a lot of my progesterone, which can be used in making T. Do you know any influence of cortisol on E2? How to change this progesterone stealing path ???

  1. As a result I assume that I will have to do first some labs to discover what is going on with my pitiuray, and I have great request I would like you to suggest me every best possible blood and non blood test to check pitiuary gland. Please. I will do those test as soon as possible.

The problem is cortisol is stealing mine progesteron. Which can be use by Testis. Even after masturbation I cant sleep, which was natural before thyroid surgery.

today liver results:

    AST	34U/l	0-50	N

ALT	37U/l	0-50	N

    Bilirubine	0,88mg/dl	0,30-1,20	N

GGTP	42U/l	0-55	N

There is no pathway for progesterone → testosterone. That is a wrong idea.

Get a topical antibiotic and put some in your nose with your finger.

Temperatures please.

[quote]KSman wrote:

Why? On wikipedia you can find this, if I am wrong correct me:

progesterone—> 17 hydroxyprogesterone----->androstedione----> testosterone

1.I did one more time another labs, my T is so low that I started loosing hairs on my face, I am really perplexed. I’m fucked up.
2.What are blood norms for progesterone for males? I found this ones from thinksteroids forum: 0.27 - 0.90 ng/mL, are they proper?
2.Temperatures i will post in a week
3.My TSH go very low (And that happens after my varicocele surgery, which proofs that varicoceles may lead to hypothyroidsm), and my FT4 is very high, I was very ,excited’’ during last week, heart bumped like mad, so today I switched my Levothyroxine to 150 from 175.

TSH 0,1 µIU/ml 0,34 - 5,6 L
FT3 2,76 pg/ml 2,5 - 3,9 N
FT4 1,15 ng/dl 0,6 - 1 1,12 H
anty-TPO 0,8 IU/ml 0,0 - 9 N
anty-TG 0 IU/ml 0 - 4 N
FSH 1,89 mIU/ml 1,27 -19,26 N
LH 2,45 mIU/ml 1,24 - 8,62 N
Estradiol 29 pg/ml
Progesteron 1,43 ng/ml 0,14 - 2,06 N
Testosteron 2,76 ng/ml 1,75 -7,81N

DHEA–>T is the main male pathway, forget that other crap.

“which proofs that varicoceles may lead to hypothyroidsm” ---- NO

Levothyroxine is pushing your TSH low as it should. You should be watching fT3 and body temperatures.
