Probiotics Bad For You?

This interesting article makes the argument that if you introduce a large amount of foreign bacteria (good or bad), you are inducing an immune response and low-grade inflammation. It goes on to conclude:

a) Population studies will show an increased risk of heart attack, strokes, and pulmonary embolism as a consequence of the mild increase in the inflammatory state induced by chronic probiotics.

b) Infections will increase in the month or two after stopping chronic probiotics.

What do you guys think?

Only hypocondriacs take Probiotics. They are good in one situation: if you’ve taken antibiotics. Otherwise, don’t bother with them. The body has magical way of balancing itself out. Don’t F with da body. If you really feel like you have something wrong with your digestion, something else is likely to blame, so be more concerned with eating healthy foods, and possibly eliminating foods (insert common allergen here) that cause you discomfort. There are several foods to consider taking that help with the digestion, but in the end (no pun intended) each individual has to figure out what foods work with their gastrointestinal tract.

He is right, probos are generally not that useful. Preboes on the other hand, those are the shit.
