I came across a product called powerlung that reputedly increases VO2 max and overall lung capacity. The claim is that we only use a small percentage of capacity, and resisted breathing exercise improves this capability. What does everyone think? Scam, or perhaps they’re onto something? I don’t know the physiology of breathing, so i cannot reach a definitive conclusion. Any technical data would be appreciated.
It’s theoretically possible to increase VO2 max by chemical means (in fact, there are drugs that appear to do just that), but very unlikely a lowly supplement company would be able to find a natural supplement to do that. I’d write them off as scammers unless they show you hard science (and no, in vitro studies do not count).
