Powerlifting is Awesome!

Awesome job!

Gregon, those are awesome numbers for a first meet!

Great work man - I’ll add my voice to the chorus of approval for the singlet… Top effort. And those are some very solid raw numbers for your first meet. No bad thing leaving something in the tank on the squat either. As LiquidMercury said, you’ll be throwing up some huge lifts once you’ve spent some time working on perfecting your technique!

That 500 DL is right around the corner. Hard to believe you didn’t smash it since 475 looked so easy.

Nice lifting.

I hate seeing people with similar numbers to mine…except their bench blows mine out of the water. feelsbadman

inspirational stuff here Gregron and congrats with those great lifts + awsome outfit.

Well played Greg. That is an excellent total for your first time out!

Congrats dude, great performance.

Thanks for posting this thread man.

I have never competed and after watching your vids
I found out a meet that I plan on being my first one.
(It is in June but I want to give myself plenty of time to really improve my #'s)
I will be sure to message you before I go to find out where you got that singlet from.

Awesome job. Congrats Great #'s and nice form.

Be careful, they’re really addictive! For your first meet, just get all the advice you can, loads of great people on this site. Don’t worry about ammonia or suits or anything, just get into really good shape and show the world how strong you are.

Just wanted to let you know I googled “awesome singlet powerlifting” and this thread was the 4th result.

great singlet, great job, and great song!

Did my first ever PL meet today and it was an incredible experience.

New PR’s on all three lifts.

The amount of friendship/camaraderie was amazing. Everyone was so nice and I had way more fun that I thought I would.

Thats about it really. Just wanted to say that now I know why people get hooked on this stuff.
fantastic job mate, I just did my first meet this past weekend & hit a decent 1500 and have nothing but respect for anyone who has the balls to stand on a platform and lift. I have a big one comin up before Christmas so it was really good to get the experience of the meet in. Along with help and pointers from guys who had been doing it for 20 years. If anybody is readin this and consisting to go for it, follow the tick and just do it!!!

DF, hahah thanks for all your tips. Really helped out a lot.

Tim, Oh I am spreading the word alright. I’m trying to get a couple of my buddies to start training PL style so they can do a meet with me next time. Glad to be part of the club.

niksamaras, that sucks that there are not PL meets over there. Maybe you could start that up? That would be pretty cool.

BCT, Appreciate it.

LiquidMerc, Thanks a lot. I dont have a plan right now to do one but most definitely will. Probably some time in the spring cause I’m getting married in December and things are crazy right now. I dont think I’ll transition to PL full time really but I’m definitely going to keep working on getting stronger. I’d like to lean out a little bit now though.

Heres the video of my lifts from the meet if anyone is interested.
fucking…solid!

nice man. kist a singlet and belt too. reminds me of my first power meet.

well done!

Thanks everyone. Yeah it was an SPF meet. Apparently it was the first ever SPF meet in Southern California. Some guy opened with a 980 squat. INSANE! hahaha

I havent tried any ammonia but I wish I would have had some. I was going to pick some up for the DL’s but I never ended up doing it and ran out of time. Couldnt order any. Oh well.

Yeah I was lifting raw. You could use knee wraps/sleeves, wrist wraps and a belt for the raw division. Those sleeves are just neoprene 10 dollar ones from Sports Authority. They just help keep my knees warm.

Glad you guys liked the singlet. It was a big hit at the meet. I was the only person not wearing a black singlet lol. I just found it online and ordered it. It was a replica of the 1992 US Olympic Wrestling teams uni’s. Classic!
btws greg, if you look on the adidas website, they make some awesome singlets for Olympic lifting…
