Excellent squat work. Your quads are far stronger than you think.
If you could find/use a belt squat machine you’d easily be using about l000+ lbs on it. No spine involvement. Your back squatting totals would surely skyrocket, libido too.
I think we have similar priorities. I remember back squatting same weights in my 50s.
If I had access to a belt squat I would definitely give it a try.
Deadlifting from the ground is what seems to set off this hip pain. I’m going to avoid conventional DL for a while.

Last weekend was our last chance to take the boat out on the lake. We stayed indoors on Saturday because of the smoke from the Canadian fires. Sunday turned out to be a day that made me ask if life is supposed to be this good. The weather was perfect and not a cloud in the sky. It seemed like we had the lake to ourselves.
I had an amazing day with my fiancé. When I got home my son ( who had not shaved or cut his hair since he got out of the Air Force over one and a half years ago) was home clean cut and fixing dinner. I actually got to see his face again. He made ribeye sandwiches and some other sandwich I can’t remember how to pronounce much less spell. Also grilled shrimp, each with a different seasoning, grilled pineapple and venison sausages. Life is good.

Great work going on. Very strong on those MP. Sounds like a great day on the lake and great food as well. A while back, some of that Canadian fire smoke made it all the way down here. My 4-year old son walked in the bathroom while I was in the shower and asked if the steam was from Canada.

This has been the second gym day in a row that someone has come up to me and said that I look bigger. If I’m bigger than I should be stronger damn it.

Thanks. I have not and maybe should be embarrassed to say that I don’t know anything about it.
I know very little and haven’t tried it to be honest. For power lifting some of the strongest people out there have followed some form of it though.
