two quick questions sir
is there any benefit to performing power snatches over high pulls? ive been doing power snatches for traps and explosiveness but then i figured the high pull can use more weight, and doesnt need the expertise of caching the bar in the right place etc.
also i am wondering if its fair to only do front squats instead of back squats. feel my technique is better given my longer legs and it fills my goals of stronger abs and upperback - i cheat when weight gets heavy on backs[/quote]
Strictly for building muscle, snatch-grip high pulls ate superior to power snatches. You can use more weight, but you can also do slightly higher reps because the lift is less technical.
No exercise is mandatory. If you get better results from front squats, do front squats. People with long legs normally get more lower back and glutes development than leg development from backs squats… if you are also doing deadlifts, then sticking to front squats is fine. A lot of olympic lifters do front squats almost exclusively.
