well, i tried a couple from the floor today just to see how it compared to HPCs, and it actually felt a lot more comfortable to me for some reason. is that normal?

You find the oddest places to train. At this rate you will post a video in about two months of you training on the white house lawn, in a space station, at the dog pound etc.

As for the lift it looks good but I can sorta see you pulling to quick off the floor. I’d stick with mostly hang cleans for about a month [65% or so] just to make sure that you only kick the speed in above the knee.

If you want to work from the floor use clean and snatch high pulls. The bar starts on the floor and you do same as clean or snatch but just explosively pull it up to about nipple height or chin height. It helps you get a feel for the full 3 pull process [so to speak, it is really only one pull in a sense].
