In reading Ian King’s “Book of Muscle,” he says “apple juice is high in fructose; the one sugar that doesnt trigger an insulin response…” If this is so, what would be a good carb to consume after working out along with creatine or just something that causes a high insulin response? Does grape juice have fructose, I thought so? How about gatorade?
Ah crap, I’ve been eating a banana as my post workout carb source for years. I didn’t realize that frutose doesn’t spike insulin leveles.
The biggest problem with Apple juice is “made from concentrate”. Anything labeled with this usually has High Fructose Corn Syrup, likewise for the word “cocktail”. Stick with Organic or 100% pure.
If you wanna go high-gi than dextrose, maltodextrin, an gatorde powder(not the liquid) are all popular choices.
