Pop 'Em Out Muscles

I was trying the standing one-leg calf raises last night mentioned in the article and I found I wasn’t able to get a full stretch at the bottom due to the slight knee bend. The article suggests to keep your knee slightly bent througout the movement. I know lots of people do this anyway, due to increased recruitment, but I’ve never had much luck with it, whether it be machine calf raises or these. Any suggestions?
