It looks incredible, I like vigilante games and I’m so glad somebody brainstormed up something that involves how ingrained technology has become and the overwhelming power you can have manipulating it.

Not a huge fan of the way he slows down time in order to interact with things and make pixel-perfect judgements. The ‘bullet-time’ thing looks way too easy to rely on, I prefer the challenge of having to adjust and act on the fly, even if the difficulty gets ramped significantly.

I like how there’s a very sparse amount of bullets in the gun by the HUD, barely a clip in his pistol. Makes me think they’ll stay true to how rare ammunition and how relentless the police would be for a guy like that, and not go all Grand Theft Auto on his abilities. Not to bash Grand Theft Auto… Vice City is my jam.
The game just looks crazy. Definitely getting AC+GTA vibe there. The hud actually reminds me a bit of the one in AC2. Was checking out this demo and was blown away with the concept.

Graphics are not as crisp as in the PS4 vid you posted above but I was still impressed. The showdown at the end is fucking badass. The only bad thing I can point is that the car handling looks a bit cumbersome, one of the few things that irk me in video gaming.
Damn I love the fighting, both melee and gunfights. I love when take-downs focus more on violence and brute force than technicality and finesse. (Kicks to the face, as opposed to judo throws if you will.)

The gunplay mechanics looks a lot like Max Payne 3 did, I’m not decided on them yet but I could probably learn to deal with it, my cynicism is probably an exception. I love the interaction between the guy who survived the pile-up next to his dead wife/girlfriend. Looks like they put quite a bit into character emotion and complexity, huge fan of that in my games.

I like the kind of car design that comes with a game like GTA4, the driving realism of those cars was a welcome change of pace from the usual engine they base cars on. (Looking at you Need For Speed.) I wish more developers would take note of the GTA4 engine when it comes to cars, it’s only of the only things they did well on that game. (Better moving cars does not make up for no Black Sabbath and only ONE David Bowie song.) ONE. As much as I like Fascination, wasn’t even one of the better ones, still waiting for Sound And Vision to rear it’s beautiful head…

I’ve never owned an Xbox so I can’t really compare. I originally got a PS3 because of the blu ray player and because every single one of my friends had one. I’m more of a casual gamer and I will get what my other friends have so that way we can interact and play games online together.

This is just my experience on who I’ve talked to so I could be wrong, but it seems to me more adults have a PS3 while more younger people have an Xbox360.
From what I have heard and read the main focus of the PS4 is social gaming. With the PS3 there was only in game chat and no party chat. If you wanted to do a chat with friends only you had to be at the dashboard or whatever the PS3 beginning screen is. I believe that is one reason why younger people played on Xbox 360, you could do a party chat in game with whoever you wanted with up to 8 people. PS4 is just now getting this, and that is one reason why I say it is behind the Xbox. But if you have never had a 360 you wouldn’t know any different.
I’m not a gamer but my kids have a PS3. All the kids in their school from 7th grade up have laptops so they just skype for party chat. I know this isn’t the same but it seems to work. They both have their Pros and Cons. Does the Xbox play bluray?

As far as paying for chat, my kids don’t have much money and I sure as hell won’t be paying for it.

I heard that the new Xbox will not allow you to play a game on more than one console. Ever. Seems like a misstep to me.

Have you been lucky enough to only have one 360 though? all my buds that went with 360’s have all had to buy a minimum of 3 different 360’s since they came out all while i had been rocking my org fat 60 GB ps3. seems like they had to replace alot of controllers and headsets also come to think about it.

To the OP or whoever else about the ps4 are they still planning on the online gaming being free or finally start charging. kept hearing rumors they were going to start charging up until they had that network hack/crash a couple years ago.

Ah my apologies, I never realised, I suppose I should post about individual titles there in future.

No Killzone gameplay as of yet, just theatrics. However, it does look really, really good. Some people are saying the textures and over all design look like PS3 but with a little added polish and shine. But to me, looking at the character models, it looks like character design has come a long way from what it used to be, even in the last Killzone title. The skin and sweat reflection looks really good on the open faced soldiers and the movement mechanics are fluid and impressive. Here’s a video that shows it well for reference.

I’m a huge fan of the Killzone games. Damn, I was gonna get the new Xbox, but now I donno.

I think it’s likely they’ll charge, Sony’s been bleeding money for years, (Maybe not due to the online specifically, but definitely for other reasons.) when the net income numbers came around last time before the whole hacking kerfuffle they had to deal with, they were hardly breaking even then. I imagine the hacking set them back a long ways in available funds, it wouldn’t surprise me too much if they started their transformation into more of a “PS Plus” style income model of shipping out some kind of memberships to a more devoted user-base, if not have to concede entirely and charge for all users.

It’s a shame because the free online was one of their forthcoming advantages in the last model, and if they do charge it will definitely worsen their “pro’s” and maybe even heighten their “con’s”. As much as they try to stay ahead of the user budget in respect to on-line connect-ability, they might have to cut their losses eventually.

Now this is all my educated conjecture, I’ve not heard anything for sure in respect to the on-line and how they’ll market it, but to me this seems like the most likely outcome. I’ll keep posted if I hear anything about it in the future.

I get that there’s not much of an appeal because of how difficult they can get sometimes, because the timing has to be impeccable and strategy plays a huge role, especially if it’s played on an appreciable difficulty level, action-centric games tend to take much more of a forefront because of the simplicity and don’t play so much on patience.

Had Metal Gear Solid and the like been readily available on the Xbox, I might have branched out to see all the fuss, but my budget is limited and I can’t bear to miss out on the franchise.

If theres one thing that can be said about sony, the reliability of playstations has always been fantastic.

I went through 3 Xbox 360’s, after the third one broke i quit trying.

I still play my original backwards compatible 60GB PS3 that i bought 2 weeks after it came out in 2006.

I still have (and play) my PS2 slim that i bought the month those came out.

What do you mean no Killzone gameplay? There’s over 7 minutes of gameplay. Unless im misunderstanding.

And it does look awesome, the intro sequence with the aerial view over the city is far more detailed and dynamic than anything the PS3 would ever be capable of. Lets not forget that these videos will look worse being streamed on your PC than when you actually can put it in your PS4 and blow it up onto your 60"

Another thing of note is that these are presumably launch titles we are looking at. 3 years after PS4 is released, games will look twice as good. Look at Uncharted 1 vs Uncharted 3. Thats a massive difference.

The Watch Dog demo looks great, it could probably look better but it was originally out for the current console generation. And the lighting and water effects we saw in that demo is incredible, definitely next-gen only stuff.

If that demo for Deep Down truly is real-time gameplay as implied, and the demo for Unreal Engine 4 as well, then THATS the kind of stuff we can anticipate seeing, and if that doesnt look incredible to you than nothing is going to please.

Just wait til Naughty Dog releases a new Uncharted for PS4. It will be mind-blowing.

The thing about not being able to play used games is just a rumor and it really has no merit. They have been saying this for a while now. I read an article and in it the CEO of Gamestop said that there is no way they would this. It stated that Gamestop controls 60% to 70% of first week game sales.

No, I went through I think 2 or 3 360’s. And each time it was fixed for free. Either I sent it to Xbox or got a new one from Gamestop for free. So it hasn’t been that much of a bother for me. I know they had a ton of issues when they first came out like red ring but I am still going to be buying the new Xbox as soon as possible. And as Kahuna already stated they are going to start charging which could be a positive and a negative.

Edit: I saw someone talking about MGS and the new one MGS Rising is going to be available on Xbox so there goes one of PS exclusives. That game looks absolutely amazing though.

I must have just missed the boat on the gameplay uploads on my search, my apologies, you’re correct, the footage is definitely there.

Huge fan of the rifle textures and the fire looks absolutely incredible, I could see an abundance of levels mapped around explosive aftermaths utilizing the fire’s mechanics.

I love the look of Watch Dogs, huge fan of the gameplay as well, from an entertainment perspective it looks right up my alley. Enough stealth and blending in with the environment but great action as well, and by no means straightforward action either, looks like tactics will play a huge role in evading police and other hostile forces effectively.

Maybe so, and I’m happy for that, I like there to be a choice between where I can put my time and not be restrained by having it only available in one place, probably predominantly why I bought a PS3 instead of an Xbox 360, and I owned all the previous Sony models, so you know, continuity.

I’ve had a taste of the gameplay from MG Rising, for a spin-off title that has itself devoted to action and incredibly cool fight scenes, it still retains a lot of it’s Stealth elements, which was surprising to me but welcomed.

Especially later on in the game if you can’t perform a stealth kill on some of the patrolling enemies and they rush you in combat simultaneously, you will have a bad time. I appreciate the return of the infamous cardboard box. And some of the novelty costumes, there’s one Mexican-themed one with a sombrero and a poncho, if you wear it and use the box the sombrero stays balanced on top of the box, it’s amusing and I love Kojima for keeping those kinds of things in there.

Ground Zeroes is what I’m waiting for, main selling point is it being the first Open World Metal Gear title, it’s safe to say my britches have been shit.

Agree, PS exclusives are much beter imo. I’ve never been big on Halo for instances. Now Nintendo on the other hand. They have some great exclusives. I kind of hope the WiiU bombs and Nintendo becomes a third party developer for both Xbox and Playstation.

This.

I have nothing against Xbox or microsoft, (other than the fact that i had 3 xbox’s break on me) but the bottom line is there was literally 1 Xbox exclusive that i missed after i stopped getting new ones. And that was Fable 2.

Every single other game for Xbox 360 that i had a desire to play was also available for PS3 or PC. However i loved PS3 exclusives.

MGS4, The Uncharted Series (especially 2 and 3) Killzone 2 and 3, Demon’s Souls, God of War III, Gran Turismo 5, the Resistance series, and soon the Last of Us…these are some of the greatest games/series of all time, and all were exclusive. Most will still be.

Didnt hurt that it came with built in wifi, built in blu ray player and free online.

I think that’s my main calling to a PlayStation as opposed to an Xbox, for whatever reason I tend to prefer the exclusives more. Uncharted, Killzone and to a great extent the Metal Gear series. I’m a devout fan of the Metal Gear games, I love stealth games.

Agree, PS exclusives are much beter imo. I’ve never been big on Halo for instances. Now Nintendo on the other hand. They have some great exclusives. I kind of hope the WiiU bombs and Nintendo becomes a third party developer for both Xbox and Playstation.
This.

Looking forward to The Last Of Us, I like post-apocalyptic style games with sparse resources and constantly changing power-play. I Am Alive was fun while it lasted, but I hope The Last Of Us can expand more on the idea and bring a new fresh perspective to the situation.

Yeah, now that Crysis 3 has released, The Last of Us is likely going to be the last big game (and certainly last PS3 exclusive) i really look forward to.

But im OK with that, because just beyond the horizon i now have PS4 to look forward to.

I really have a strong feeling that the PS4 will deliver in a big way, especially if the mid 400’s to mid 500’s price points are validated. Unless Xbox has something truly groundbreaking to reveal, PS4 should be number one for this generation. Wii U certainly isnt gonna hurt it too much.

I was once big on consoles, but after the buzz kill I got from PS2 and PS3 as well as all the XBOX faults (pricing on all three and hardware issues the PS2 and XBOX) it’s swayed me back to PC gaming.

I’m betting this is going to retail for a stupid amount here in Australia … games are probably going to range from $80 - $130 again for a few months.
