Plateau....ish

well… i got a pr on bench today… but… it’s not to be proud of… it was a 5lb pr, about 4 mnths after i set my old pr of 300 i did lose about 10 lbs during that time, but, still…

i REALLY want to get 315 in about 6 days (it was my goal all along to get it before i turned 19, and i’m turning 19 aug. 1) any ideas for what to do in 6 days before i try 315, i’m thinking lots of sleep… should i bulk up, and put on 5-10 lbs of weight (water+fat) would it be beneficial @ all? any other tips?..

also… due to time constraints, im’ also maxing out on dl soon (going for 500) do you think it’d be better to bench on mon. and dead. on wed.? thus only giving me 5 days rest for bench, or, should i bench on tue. and dead. on wed. making me max out 2 days in a row?..any suggestions would be very much appreciated

eat and rest you aint getting any stronger at this point. and which ever is more important do first the DL or the Bench. Id give yourself a day of rest between them for sure. Or hell go meet style rest up big time all the way to thurs and have long training day and pull, push and why not squat a max in one day

I’d say good luck and get some rest, I would put a few days between my deadlift and bench to get the most out of both.

We are pretty much in the same boat, I want to hit 315 by september 12th (my 19th birthday). I hit 295 on monday, I’m going to be cutting it close, but 315 is going down.

I’ve even debated stabbing myself with my Epipen if it doesn’t look like I will have 315 in time lol, who knew a peanut allergy could be usefull (I’m joking…maybe)

so… to firstly adress the responses, what about “carb loading”… that… won’t help a max attempt? also, what about ammonia? is there anywhere in a (relatively) small town that would sell caps, or however it is you take them? would GNC? i’ve never worn a belt when i bench, would that be beneficial @ all… any other quick tips to add 5lbs to a lift? (i REALLY want to hit 315)…

on another note… i thought it was just a coat rack, or perhaps a place to get idiots that you don’t want to hog the squat rack to do their “squats”… but… i found another use for the smith machine!!!.. while some idiot was doing some sort of bodybuilding clean… (a clean, but, purposely slow, and controled to “feel the burn” i suppose, lol)…

i tried warming up my deadlifts on the smith, and evidently it worked well, i SMASHED my old deadlift pr (once i got over to the floor) it was 445, i hit 475 EASILY (purposely 5lb under my goal for this summer, so that, in a week i can have drive to destroy a goal)… i had an easy 15-20+lbs left in the tank today, and think imma try for 500 next thursday (2 days after i try my 315 bench)

and… what’s more, i had so much adrenaline going through me that i went over to the pullup bar, and hit my goal for the summer of 15 wide grip-slight-pause-at-bottom pullups (although, only to nose height)… @ a weight of 242 (i dunno how i keep losing weight… i’m trying to uber-hydrate myself, AND eat more, but, if i’m getting stronger, i guess i won’t complain, peace guys

Sure carbs wont hurt main thing just stay well fed its not like you revving up for an endurance event

ammonia shouldnt be a big prob to get at any pharmacy etc but I wouldnt use them now unless you have prior experience with them in training

If I was you I would go to the gym tomorow and Bench like 5 setts do 4 sets of close grip bench 5-10reps allout. 5sets of dumbell flys and then 3 x30-100 push downs and just destroy your triceps.

Dont leave until you feel you have destroyed all your bench muscles. Not to the point of dammage but a very goodworkout.

Order a large pizza get a gallon of chocolate milk and some wings and eat it all post workout and for the rest of the day. Sleep like 15 hours that night and for the next 4 days up your protein by like 100 grams comeing from eggs milk and fatty meat.

Maxout the day before you turn 19 and Im sure you will hit 315lbs.

Seriously I dont think there is such a thing as a platue in a lift just a lack of intensity food and sleep.

But then again I have never realy had a real platue so I cant talk.
