No Problem – make sure and look me up if you come to Killeen. Would be nice to put a face with the name. I will be at the meet for sure.

Felt drained so I didn’t do a workout worth writing about the last couple of days; all I did was some bodyweight(BW) exercises like dips, push-ups, pull-ups, chin-ups, step-ups, and walking the dogs.

Saturday, 04/01/06 - Squat - 45x10x2; 135x8; 225x5; 315x3; 365x2; 410x1; 275x4 with 3 sec pause at bottom. Low back and right calf really sore from unknown source so workout was tedious and painful…to the point where I started compensating and my lower back ended up being sorer!!!

Keiser Seated Leg Curl did sets of 5’s; raised pressure 50 psi until I couldn’t get 5 reps anymore. Did same thing on Leg Extensions and Leg Press - sets of 5 raising pressure 50 psi until I failed at 4 reps.

Took dogs for an extra long walk - 3 miles to see if it made my sore back and calf better - calf no; back yes! If I feel up to it, will do a chest workout tonight. Keep you posted!

my training was strong and I had room for more reps and weight. The extra day of rest helped.I’m considering a mini 6 week cycle for the Nationals.Seems like as I get older a shorter cycle works better.TRAIN HARD! Jimmy T

firebug9,Where are the Masters National Bench going to be held?I understand the weight issue. If I’m not careful my weight goes up fast.In fact I’m thinking about my next trip to the fridge now.TRAIN HARD! Jimmy T

OOPS! I mean the Master Bench Worlds!
sorry!

Sunday - 04/02/06
Bench Press - 45x10x2; 135x8; 185x4; 225x2; 250x2x2 with blue mini band doubled around back. Wanted to do more sets but wasn’t feeling well and had several trips to bathroom to ‘chum’ and when I felt better wasn’t ‘warm’ enough to continue without warming up again.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!

QuarterTonner,Hang in there bro!Jimmy T

Monday 04/03 & Tuesday 04/04
have some kind of intestinal virus…been ‘chumming’ for 3 days now. Abs real sore and one broken blood vessel in my eye. No workouts! Thought it may be a 24hr bug but it’s lingered. Tomorrow better be a better day!

Wednesday - 04/05/06
INSTEAD OF BACKFIRING THROUGH THE CARBUERATOR, NOW I’M BLOWING OUT THE MUFFLER!!!
Tried Press behind the neck - 45x15; 45x10; 70x10; 95x8; 120x5; 135x3; 160x3; 185x2push presses; 225x1push press; 150x5.
Too weak and tired to try anything else. Hope tomorrow is a better day.

Took Thursday off because I am still not feeling well - I will try to Deadlift, Squat and BP between Fri & Sun. Maybe I will even do a “mini-meet” and train them all on the same day with no assistance work, just the three lifts. The April 5th deadline to get my application in for the contest has come and gone. My boss is not giving me the time off, so I will not be attending the meet in Killeen. I still plan to do either a USAPL local meet or invite 3 judges to the house and do a garage meet.

I’m not terribly disappointed because I expected this to happen as it has occurred the last 2 years as well. There will always be other contests and the Nationals will have to wait until I can get time off from work…maybe next year???

To Heavythrower, Jimmy, & Malinda, the 3 who seem to have followed this thread closely, I thank you for your encouragement, suggestions, and sharing workouts of your own doing. Best of luck to all of you in all your future endeavors. I will continue posting until May, but do not see them happening daily, but we’ll see.
