Percent for Maximum Power Output?

Hi all,

Trying to increase my jumping ability, and am wondering what is the best rep range and weight for doing this?

This is my thoughts from what I know,

max output is at about 50-60% 1rm assuming that the athlete is completing the lift at max velocity.

e.g. performing 3 sets of 3 lift at 50-60% powercleans.

Thanks for your input.

Definitely lower reps, around 2-4.

According to Thibaudeau’s recent article:

40-50% is an acceptable lower end for speed work. Part two of his article may clarify things, but it hasn’t come out yet.

Regardless of the actual percent of 1RM, I’d use whatever weight you can handle for a few sets of those 2-4 reps while keeping the bar moving super fast (and, of course, avoiding muscular failure).

Cheers mate,

Thanks for that advice.

The best way to improve your jumping ability is get your squat to well of 2 times your bodyweight, all the while practicing jumping.
