"4. Eliminate all bilingual education in all states.

definitely! this is america! we speak english, NOT spanish or anything like that. learn the language of the country or shut up. schools should only teach in english. "

if I have to hear one more person say, “this is america, speak english damnit!!” i will fucking shoot myself. Europeans almost all learn 2 languages at school, and they’re doing a lot better off than us at the moment. Also, according to certain statistics, english speaking whites will be in the minority sometime in the next few decades (yes, a lot of the hispanics are illegal, but they are still here right?) So in essence you want to stop our children from learning the language that the majority of the population will know by the time they are adults?? Good job my friend, good job. Personally, I think people in this country need to get over how great america is or how great they think it is and realize that you make up a small percentage of the world, except for your military prowess, your influence is shrinking, the steady growth of the european union being the strongest example of another economic power coming to the front. I personally was brought up eith 2 languages in South Africa and I don’t regret it at all. I am quite happy actually as my language abilities are not the strongest and having 2 base languages i feel has made me more intelligent than if i had just had 1. anyways, bilingualism is not such a bad thing, especially when you start it to kids under 10 b/c they have the greatest capacity for learning a 2nd language, I am almost certain half the people on this board wished their parents had taught them a second language when they were children.

6. Make tax cuts fair!

how are they unfair? let’s say the rich get a bigger tax cut. so?!? they pay more taxes anyway. and who are these “rich” people? these rich people are bosses, business owners, etc. people that give people work! duh! a tax break for them is a break for you. even if that isn’t true, when rich people spend, people benefit. “unfair” my ass.

what we really need is a flat tax rate of about 13%. that would be a good step in the right direction. people that do things right and make money shouldn’t be punished by paying more taxes.

people don’t get it.

if I have to hear one more person say, “this is america, speak english damnit!!” i will fucking shoot myself.

this is america, speak english damnit!!

yeah, let’s compare to the european union. that’s wonderful. why don’t you go live in europe, then? what a great idea, where a country will have little influence over the way things go in their own country!!! yay socialism! i can’t wait to read their consitution. lol give me a break. this is america. go live somewhere else if we’re so bad off.

YAh you’re right. Russia rules. Turn america into Russia. Good idea.

Yah, that 500 dollar check really made a huge difference to someone makeing 100k+ a year. The people who got those checks did not need to spend them, the peoplw ho didn’t get them would have spent them…

And if we exported all illegal immigrants, you guys would be pretty unhappy. Who would be your cheap labor force? DO you know how hard those immigrants work for everyone else? They work harder than most people on this board ever will.

YAh you’re right. Russia rules. Turn america into Russia. Good idea.

BWWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

MUAAHAHAHAHAHA

hhahahahaha

hahah

hehe

heh

heh

all you liberal pussies are the same. read what I said numnuts. how the fuck does having a flat tax rate turn us into russia? that’s the dumbest godamn piece of shit thing said. i forget who got that award, but sorry…i’m retracting it. this guy get it.

oh my fucking god.

what a dumass.

Ren, it wasn’t that long ago that many of our grandparents or great grandparents came to this country. Some were from the British Isles so they did speak English but many others were Japanese or German, etc. They learned the language. I expect the same to happen now. I don’t think America should change because of an illegal invasion from the south.

kick out the illegals and get legal ones to work.

very excellent point, MR! thank you. my ancestors were german and didn’t speak english until they learned it.

people are too full of themselves. they think everything should change to fit them.

if i moved to mexico i wouldn’t expect them to start speaking english and teaching their kids english.

what’s wrong with teaching foriegn lingo? we are just lazy, most sountrys speak 2-3. we don’t have to close the borders just california. to everyone! you can visit but you can’t stay.lol

Those of you who grumble regarding the lowering of taxes must remember one very important thing. It’s your money first, not the governments!

We should not have to justify why we want some of it back. It should be up to the government to justify why they want so much of it to begin with!

Ending affirmitive action is another good idea.

If equality is the goal, as it should be, how do we get to that point by rewarding people for being different? This reverse discrimination helps no one. It causes the people that are receiving it to feel like they are owed something, not quite good enough to do it on their own. This lowers self esteem.

It also causes the people who are directly negatively affected by affirmitive action to harbor resentment. How would you feel if you lost a civil service job because someone else was awarded an extra 15 points on the same test, just because they are a minority? Same goes for college entrance exams. And a host of other give away programs slated under affirmitive action. How can this bring equality to a minority group? It’s wrong and it needs to end as soon as possible!

While I find Savage to be obnoxious, he does bring to the table these two good points. As well as a few others.

I’d like to defer to Anderson because he is our resident economics expert - there are some others that are good too. Anyway, making money cheap (i.e., intrest rates) and available (freeing up money in the form of tax relief) has worked for the last twenty years or so. The treasury will be filled with tax revenue because as the economy grows, the money supply grows and there is more of a “pie” to tax.

The deficits that everyone points to is a factor of goverment spending, not the fact that there is less money because of the tax cuts.

how are they unfair? let’s say the rich get a bigger tax cut. so?!? they pay more taxes anyway. and who are these “rich” people? these rich people are bosses, business owners, etc. people that give people work! duh! a tax break for them is a break for you. even if that isn’t true, when rich people spend, people benefit. “unfair” my ass.

They’re unfair in that those tax cuts are being paid for by cuts in spending for programs that have a much larger negative impact on the poor than the cuts had a positive impact on anyone else. Great, I got a check for a few hundred bucks. It was cool, but I didn’t “need” it, and I already paid the taxes, so as far as I was concerned the money was gone.

The people who could have really used the money, for things like rent, clothes, groceries, didn’t get any. That’s ok, it wasn’t their money to begin with. But now we have to pay for it, and the people who benefitted the least from the cuts will be suffering the most to pay for them. Yeah, that’s fair.

"Yah, that 500 dollar check really made a huge difference to someone makeing 100k+ a year. The people who got those checks did not need to spend them, the peoplw ho didn’t get them would have spent them… "

I got a $800 dollar check in August and I needed to spend every dime of it. It was my money I was damn happy to have it back.

Right on, MR.

Morg does actually (in his own subtle way ;)) make some very valid points.

One thing I think some of you are missing - no one is talking about not teaching foreign languages. That’s important, in my opinion. They’re talking about not hiring teachers who must speak Spanish in order to be able to teach the masses of Spanish speaking people whose families refuse to speak English in their home, and thus teach their kids the language. Has any other nationality ever had this pampering before?

And why should I, as a taxpayer, pay for the tons of state and federal literature that is printed in a foreign language? A prerequisite in the past for all other immigrants has been to learn enough English to be able to take advantage of all the benefits we have to offer.

Small sacrifice to make, isn’t it?

oh, boo hoo! less goverment programs because of the mean old tax cut. guess what? good!

we don’t need government programs. programs create what they’re trying to prevent. one could argue that “ghettos” are created because of all the government programs. why work for something you can get for free? and it creates a downward spiral that people in those areas struggle to get out of.

quit the stupid programs, take some responsibility, work hard, and create money and earn money.

"The people who could have really used the money, for things like rent, clothes, groceries, didn’t get any. That’s ok, it wasn’t their money to begin with. But now we have to pay for it, and the people who benefitted the least from the cuts will be suffering the most to pay for them. Yeah, that’s fair. "

I just don’t understand how anyone who was raised in America can think this way. At what point in your upbringing did the idea of someone forcefully taking your stuff and giving it to someone else seem fair?

If you want to share out of the goodness of your heart, give to charities–they’re more efficient than the government most of the time anyway.

Actually, the people who benefited the least from the tax cuts in the short term will be among those who benefit the most in the form of a good economy and job growth in the long term. You can’t create jobs through taxation and you can’t create jobs by giving tax breaks to people who pay very little tax (relatively speaking, of course). The money that is placed into the economy in such situations is negligable in terms of the effect on the economy.

To all opponents of taxation as “un-American”?!:

Are society is built on the middle class. Tax cuts to the middle class are the only ones that result in significant increased spending, and economic growth.

If we’re in a deficit or have to pay back government loans, then we have a concrete amount of debt to pay for. Assuming we are in a recession, we must eventually increase taxes if growth won’t catch up to our debt in a reasonable time. So who are we going to tax…?

Let’s see…tax the poor: no money. Tax the middle class: economic recession. Tax the rich: YUP. They can afford it and they’ll still have the profit incentive.

That is the actual logic behind “taxing the rich” or at least not cutting their taxes. Its the only effective tax that doesn’t wreck the economy for EVERYBODY IN SOCIETY, the rich included. But you don’t have to do it when you’re not deficit spending.

(Instead you can offer more tax credits to corporations to selectively increase economic development and research in different domestic areas.)
