Patricia - Training Log

About 1-2" above the chest.

if you’re using the mini bands for your reverse hypers be careful.

jesse and i used to do that as well. We found a way to wrap the bands around our ankles and around a post that was near our feet. about a foot away from our toes when our legs hang from the bench.

After using a real reverse hyper, we found that our previous technique was all wrong. We were explosive from the start but sucked near the bottom.

By all means, do what you can. I know we did. I’m just letting you know that it isn’t exactly training the posterior chain like a reverse hyper would.

BOBU: wow, thanks for that.

Okay, out with the mini-bands then.

holy shit. thats a huge deadlift for a little lady.
i think i might have to get back into heavy deads, i cant have a girls half my size lifting the same weights, its just demoralising.
damn you, t-vixens, damn you all to hell!

Patricia and Ko,
Quick question concerning jump squats. I’ve never done these before, so I am a little bit confused. You say that you pause once mid-way and also below parallel and explode from there. So for example, does that mean that you would start in a below parallel position with a loaded BB on your shoulders and explode up onto a box, or just explode up on general back into the starting position? Thanks for the input!

Tony- We don’t always use the pauses, and we don’t jump up onto a box (yet).

I use 3 pauses, one at a 1/4 squat, at 1/2, and then finally rockbottom. I then explode up, and then stick the landing like a gymnast would (usually dropping into a 1/4 squat to absorb the shock). And yes, we are using a loaded barbell.

*20lbs away from 200 on the bench. Feel pretty damn swell about that. Plus, had allergy tests performed today at the doc’s office. Guess what? I’m allergic to everything! My left arm looked like a prickly pear and the tricep was HUGE, due to reaction of the tests. hehehe

BUT, I could BREATH today. My lung capacity was tested at 98%. 200lb bench is just around the corner, folks.

Patricia, Are you hitting benches that high shirtless?

Peyton, yup.

Oh, make sure you’re looking at the numbers to the left of the /, too.

The ones on the right of the / are Ko’s.

Wow patricia is nearly at 200 bench and ko puts up 300? Damn

That’s awesome. 180lbs with no shirt is pretty darn impressive. Are you planning on getting a shirt for your first meet or are you gonna hit it up raw?

I would love to try my first meet raw, Peyton; however, since the two orgs I’m looking at both allow DD shirts, that’s what I’ll be getting. And since more than likely, everyone will be using a shirt? I might as well join the club.

Since 200 is sooooo close, I’ve re-set the goal for 225 in the gym.

Another thing I must say wow about is the working out with asthma.

I had it bad back in my teen years and it really sucked. Only benefit I can see from it was I learned to hold my breath longer than most peeps, probably cause with asthma you had no choice since you couldnt get the damn air out anyway.

Now, the leftovers are when I get a cold or something I get the asthma feeling for a good week or so. Not the total lung busting wheeze, but a wheeze that others can hear if they are a few feet away and a real shortness of depth in the breath.

I salute you pat for being able to work out like that. I’ve done it and it’s no easy deal, and with it messing up your sleep you get a double whammy out of it.

Thanks, Antiliberal. My mentioning the asthma isn’t to rec’v kudos; I do know there are many, many athletes who also deal with asthma. I just wanted to “come out” and stop living with the denial (as many other athletes do). Thought I should clarify, didn’t want other to think I’m shooting for that “pity party”, as I mentioned before.

But seeing this allergy specialist has released a huge burden on my shoulders. And I felt like celebrating and sharin’. I can breath. Like a full inhale and exhale with no wheezing or coughing breaking it up. Now, that’s a revelation.

AL: you probably get bronchitis like I do, whenever I get a cold. A cold goes straight to the chest; and is typical of anyone with asthma. Sometimes, I get the always fun, “walking pneumonia”. Yeah, great joy.

Thanks again, guy. Mucho appreciat-o.

What is a staning tricep rack press?

You bench without a shirt on? You’re sick. Geez.

It’s one thing to put up pictures of a back lat spread not wearing a shirt, but to be in the gym benching without one? Come on.

a hand reaches out of Thunder’s computer screen and slaps him

Hehehe

Sorry, I couldn’t resist. I was actually behaving like the forum kids there for a minute. It won’t happen again.

Still though, what is a standing tricep rack press?

Thunder’s right, as usual.
(ducks and runs…)

If you’re going to using a Double Denim I have no doubt that you will be blowing up some massive weights by contest time. When is your contest anyways?

Patricia, yes as I write this I have the bronchitis deal again. Always takes a couple weeks or so to go away, even after the heavy part of the cold is gone.

And don’t listen to thunder or kong. You can bench without a shirt in the gym all day long if you feel like, I seriously doubt any guys would complain, although many old ladies and overweight gals would complain out of jealousy.

I imagine it would get odd though when you sweat onto the bench, sorta slippery.
