Pain In The Glutes

A month ago I hurt myself doing deadlifts, since then I tried to not go heavy and reduced squat frequency to once a week. But today I couldn’t even do warm ups with squats because the pain in my left glute was intense I cannot bend or standup from the toilet without pain.
I am taking antiinflammatories hoping it will go away.
Any tips?
Should I go light for a few months?

Doing Lacrosse ball rolling on sore spots might help.
