Pain in Midback While Squatting


I strained my mid back while squatting. It was the most that I have squatted since my accident. I think that I didn’t keep a strong upper back on the first set and that is what hurt it. Has anyone here strained their mid back “spine muscles?” What did you do to prevent this or strengthen those muscles? Did you stay at the lower weight for a little longer to let your back get used to the weight?

I think this goes back to your serratus/lat. If those side muscles are lagging, and your mid back picks up the slack, you could strain something.
