Overhead Squat Issues

I’d like to add some overhead squatting to my training but have found some flexibility issues and can’t perform a full squat. I believe i could be a little more flexible in my shoulders and have a greater arch in my back… but… my issue is mainly with the anterior muscles in my shins. Every time I do that damn squat my tibialis ant. contracts so hard i can’t continue the squat.

Is this actually my tib. ant., lack of ankle mobility or some other issue? and any suggestions?

One thing that helped me (I can’t overhead squat much weight, but I can do a full depth overhead squat) was ankle mobility drills everyday, band shoulder dislocates, and taking a really freaking wide grip on the bar. I mean really wide like pinkies to the edge of the knurling (almost to the collars).
