One Lift a Day Program: Question

I was reading this article recently: Strength Training, Bodybuilding & Online Supplement Store - T NATION

It looks interesting, but I have a question about it: in the article, Dan John says “If you’re only doing chins, you’re going to chin for 45 minutes!” but then says the whole workout is, at most, 7 sets. How does 7 sets take 45 minutes? I’m obviously missing something here, but I don’t know what.

I’ve done the program so a couple of points. A) You’re not going to do seven sets of chins in a row with zero rest, and B) most people add in accessory work despite it being “One” lift a day.
