Olympic Squats to Box Squats

Ya you can use bands with the chain suspended squats. But you use the chains to break the eccentric chain the same way the box would except that

  1. the load isnt on your spine
  2. it’s better than doing stop squats on the rack pegs because it won’t change your mechanics any.

Only problem is how strong are your chains with how much you’re squatting.

I’ll assume you’re not squatting more than 650 :-p so with some pretty standard chains and a decent rack you should be cool.

I’d still box squat at some point.
and it’s a pause and touch. DO NOT ROCK ON THE BOX. Dave tate has said so many times that rocking on the box is a wrong form of box squatting i dont know why you see it all the time. Thats what they USED to do and that resulted in injuries.

Hit the box, relax your hip flexors (like dont push you’re knees out as hard), keep everything else tight.

Retighten up and shoot off the box. It’s like slightly less than a second.

Can you set me up with some advice about squatting wtih chains? Do you have a pic or anything. I have never tried chains (although I have used bands many times).
